above is my DxDiag tag (i hope i did that right)

EDIT: OK i have no clue sorry...I have a HP laptop with a Pentium 3.06HD with 2G of ram and a 128 Graphics card, I'm on cable at 1.5M speed.....if any of that helps. :help:

My logfile folder in the DawnofWar folder is empty.

Automatch games are difficult to load for me. In Gamespy, when it says "New players are joining your game." It never launches.

On the console, it shows that my host is successful on 6112 then something about ignoring peer and finally "complete before" waiting just has it reset.

Often I cannot join other hosts in automatch. The console states negotions on port 6112 and then sends a cookie, finally it ends with starting negotions....but fails to launch.

I can play some automatches but ONLY if someone else hosts.

I CAN HOST regular games.

Not sure what the problem is and need help. :steam:

Also:

I read the Network Testing sticky and followed its instructions and the links associated with it. THe end result was that my 6112 port passed and so did my 6667 but not the rest.

After skimming through the threads more thoroughly: It looks like most people who encounter a problem similiar to mine have issues with their firewall or have an unknown issue with ISP/virus.

I don't know. COuld be my ISP, but somehow I think its something else as this computer is a laptop and I travel with it and sometimes play on the road using hotel connections. Last time I played in a hotel I had exactly the same trouble so I'm assuming its the PC. BUt I just updated and ran my av software and I disabled all firewall and av before I connect to game spy.

Finally, it could be GS itself but the problem is to consistent for that....unless GS consistently sucks?

OK, lets try and get it working at home first - when you connect at a hotel hotspot you cant do anything about ports being blocked by their router so gaming from those connections is always going to be hit and miss.

How do you connect to the internet at home? I assume you use a wireless router? If so then look for it on the portforwarding website linked in the net test thread and follow the instructions there to forward the ports DoW needs.

If that doesnt help (doesnt change the results of the net test) then completely shut down any firewalls, virus scanners and soforth running on your laptop and try again.

I followed the net test guidance and links associated with it. I got my static IP and used the port guidance to forward all of my ports with my wireless router. :salute:

The result was pass for 6112 UDP and for 6667 TCP. The rest timed out.

Your right on the hotel as a hit or miss. Some hotels work and others dont, depends on their firewalls I think.

I disable "auto-protect" and "internet/email worm protection" as well as my firewall while I'm playing DoW. Although I'm not sure, enabling them seems to have no effect.
