View Full Version : Issue with ONLY the opening cinematics.

First and foremost -- the game runs fine, even with the graphics maxed out. Gameplay and in-game cinematics are not an issue.

The opening cinematics, meaning the GWI(?), Relic, et cetera, and then the movie are all super, super choppy. I say choppy and basically mean, every other minute I get a still-life of a Relic underwater mine or an awesome-looking Force Commander getting shot.

Any clues? This same issue happened to me with Homeworld 2(I stopped playing for a month, then went back to it), however in the case of Homeworld 2 the entire game became unplayable. I'd like to be able to watch the opening cinematics and play HW2 again. Thanks, in advance. =)

Make sure you have the latest DivX codec (divx.com).

Just downloaded and installed the DivX codec. Still having issues with the introduction movie. It also affects the intro movies for the Order and Disorder campaigns on Winter Assault.

Just removed the Omega drivers, cleaned up with Driver Cleaner, and changed to the latest nVidia drivers. Still no change in the cinematic near-non-existance-choppiness.

Does anybody else have some insights? Could sure use the help. =)

Well. I s'pose nobody else has seen/heard of this problem. That sucks. I went through THQ's support and even though I made a point of conveying the fact that only the cinematics were choppy, they still came across as understanding it to be a graphical issue("turn down your graphics settings and run in windowed mode").

If anything turns up, someone give me a PM. I'd love to see the cinematics.

Thanks.

The movie is viewable here (http://www.dawnofwargame.com/downloads/index.php?1141693897) - only in crappy low res though.

As to getting it to work in the game for you, I guess it could be a drive issue - do you have another drive you could try?

Nah, I only have a C drive. Stupid of me, considering the size, but when I installed the HD I was just so eager to have one that size that I threw it in and fired'r up.

Also, I can't see the intro' cinematics for either campaign in the Winter Assault expansion. =(

sorry, I meant disk drive - CD or DVD. If it was a harddrive issue I would expect you to be having much more serious problems.
