View Full Version : Whats the deal with "The secret" anyhow?

I think many of us like conspirational theories or hidden secrets and similar stuff. At least as entertainment...
Well, I seek Your opinion on this:

The Secret :wowsers:
Have anyone seen it? What is it? Does it claim to be a documentary or fiction?
Some secret scroll that reveals powers to "be what you want"..."do what you like"...etcetera. Which obviously ain't true but of course tantalizing. Tickles ones imagination...

Looks to be more of a cult, to me.
I couldn't care less about what it is, that is the most epic trailer I've seen in a shitload of time.
But anyhow, I think it's something about some "master key system"
That's what google tells me anyways.

I did not ask for a google result or what You care about it.
I asked if anyone had some opinion based on personal experience of it.
If you have no opinion but a generalized "this is bs", do not post.
Nono, I couldn't care less as in the trailer overshadows everything.
Here I stated my opinion.
Then I proceeded to try and answer one of your questions; "what is it?"
I already know the secret. Be full of yourself.
Notice how every person they mention is full of themselves?
Meh, looks like a wanna-be Tony.

Yeah well I dont know what the secret is, but can somebody shell out 4.95 and post the result here. I would be intersted in knowing. The ttrailer does look good though.
It is prolly some crap trying to piggy back on the impending release og the da Vinci code though

It does look remarkably similar. It's possible that it's some cult being clever;
The Secret Scrolls Privacy Policy is to never share your name or email with anyone beyond the staff, teachers and provders directly associated with The Secret.
'Teachers?"
Some of the legendary books behind The Secret are in our Secret Treasures eBook area. They teach the infallible principles of good health, wealth creation, and joy. The methods and the science behind these methods can help you live The Secret. We are confident you will enjoy these complimentary eBooks.
I think it's a method to get people into self-help books or something :s

Why are we here, what's life all about?
Is God really real, or is there some doubt?
Well tonight, we're going to sort it all out
For tonight it's the Meaning of Life.
It's epic self help.

Whoa...that trailer was intense.
I'm bookmarking it, saving $20, and returning to it, if I end up down in life someday.

The more I read the site the less I want the video. All the philosophers aren't philosophers at all, writing things about the science of success and how to get rich quick. That isn't philosophy, that's a scam.

$5 bucks for the secret of the universe? Sounds like a good deal.
But if it turns out to be another Tony Robbins-wannabe self-help seminar I shall be sorely disappointed. I'd be very curious to see the opinion of someone who's actually bought and watched it.

I cant believe no-one has pointed out already that the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42? Well, i suppose you could call it a secret.

So, it looks like the have rebranded Scientology and are now marketting it via internet.
Wonder how many gullible people fall into this?
Watch out for those thetans.
Or could be just some latching on to the Davinci Code hype.
It's not Scientology. It's based on a lot of the concepts presented in the film "What the Bleep do we know?", if anyone saw that.
Its not for everyone - some people would learn the secret and go "meh.. bollocks" and for some people, it blows their mind & changes their life. I'm mostly in the former camp, but I can see how it works for others.
Anyway, spend the $5 and find out for yourself (dyn ;)) If nothing else, you'll probably find it entertaining.

You know, I might go get that "bleep" movie, if I can find it at blockbuster when i get one of those free rental coupons
There are a few reviews on amazon here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000F7N6VI/ref=cm_aya_asin.title/002-8007500-3065668?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance).

I found "What the Bleep do we know" to be an interesting movie, but then they brought out these wackos who insisted they were reincarnated aliens or something and tried to pass what they said off as science. It's not a secret. It's repackaged new-age mumbo-jumbo.
I prefer my Christian mumbo-jumbo.

Check out the Good Vibes (http://thesecret.tv/images/goodvibes_slideshow/phpslideshow.php?directory=.&auto=1¤tPic=4) gallery. It's seven pictures to make you feel good. You can even make them vibrate. Wow this site gets sillier the more you look.
For those "42" posters ... 42 is the answer, not the secret, nor is it the meaning of life. It is simply the answer to the question. The great question of life, the universe and everything. (And no, the question is not "How many paths must a man walk down?", that is the made up question.) For once why don't you people actually know what you are talking about when you are trying to look like fans of the master?
As to this? Well, I don't see why they have to be selling it if it's the secret to being rich and happy. If they know the secret why do they need my money? Why not tell me for free? Sounds like money grabbing nuts to me.

Personally, It sounds to me like the secret to wealth etc. is creating a trick based around a fictional secret and then charging people for the knowledge. Even though it temporarily unavailiable in Australia, I won't do it, I don't feel the need to. Not that I don't repect the decisions of others, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Even if it is big, I'd rather find my own path in life.
wtf is anyone actually seriously considering buying that crap?

This site (http://www.universeofpower.com/BuildingYourPower/The_Secret_b.php?gclid=CPmvjuXDtYQCFSq7JAod5BtKAw) is a commentary on "The Secret" with an equally fanatical woman claiming to reveal the secret for free if you get on her mailing list. Quite frankly, I don't know about the rest of you but the idea of 5-minute online classes does not seem to me to be the best way to learn about the secret of life.

You know you would think people would have learned thier leason with Scientology. I guess their will allways be gullible people around who will believe anything. I have a friend if ishow this too will most likely believe it.

Zepherian: I might have done that if it wasn't already clear that you don't know the doctrine of the Master well enough.
On a more serious note, I said that because it's starting to annoy me how many people get quotes all wrong and don't even know it. Or how many people state half quotes in the wrong places. If you are going to refure to something you haven't done, at least get it right.
Let's have a look:
We won’t go into the details of energy and vibration here (see the full E-Course for the science behind these principles). Keep in mind, however, that our bodies and the physical world in which we live are, at the core, energy – vibrating balls of energy.
The trick is getting yourself energetically aligned to what you want, so all that you desire is delivered directly to you. Again, we’re simplifying the principles here, but if you can imagine your desires and their fulfillment as radio signals going back and forth between you and the universe, and your process of conscious creation as tuning in to the particular station that you want and turning up the volume, you’ll understand. When you are precisely tuned in to the frequency you want, then, look out!
All I can say is...
DNA ACTIVATION!!!!!!

Hmm... At first I thought the music in the trailer had been specifically composed for that movie. But now recently I saw a program on TV in wich it was used, wich means that it wasn't! What is that music?
[/NECROMANCY]
It's stock music, so it's freely available to anyone who pays for the license.
Uhuh... Darn.

Nice bump...
I watched that movie a few weeks back, interesting stuff that made me think about the purpose of life...
Then I realised those people have not discovered the truth of my sig.
You won't discover your life's meaning by looking within.
You didn't create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what purpose you were created for.

I have located the track! www.extrememusic.com under Get Music -> Directors Cuts -> Genre -> Choral -> Dark Horse. That site has just got a new frequenter.

Yeah extreme have a cool site & the directors cuts series is very popular. You'll probably recognise several of those tracks from various television shows around the place.
