space wolves wolf lord

im just starting space wolves and im wondering how do i get a wolf lord for a 750 pt. army. they only sell ragnar blackmane and hes a special character for 1500pt army. do i just take a reg marine and call him a wolf lord?

Obviously using the stats in the Space Wolf codex you could do. A good model would be the space marine commander as he has some really useful weapon options.

my Wolflord is just an old wolf gaurd model that i painted in different armour to represent his rank. I would think that you could still use him as a Wolf Lord, just dont use Ragnars stat line.

Ragnar is fine for a wolf lord.

The commander would also work.

Basicly as long as your not using a basic marine with nothing changed and he has nothing but a bolter and looks exactly like your other troops, then your fine.

If you want something a little distictive,check out this (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=9947010106505&orignav=9) mini from the classic range. The helmet could count as a Wolf Helm Of Russ. maybe a little clean by modern SW standard, but nothing an SW upgrade sprue couldn't sort out.

but really there's no reason you couldn't use a wolf guard mini, or a plastic marine, as long as you make him look distinctive.

Or you can use a Rune Priest as the HQ. For 5 more points he get a spell that give the group he is with a 5+ cover save AND gets to attack first in the assalt unles the enemy is in cover then it goes be I.

How does storm caller allow you to go first? All it does is act like 5+ cover and it acts like frag grenades when assualt a unit in cover.

Storm Caller, if cast on the unit ASSAULTING means the unit is in cover and gains all the benefits from being in cover, including intiative. It' is one of the best abilities in the SW arsenal. 15 BC's on the charge under storm caller means 60 attacks at I10.
