OK, I've been playing WA for months now. However recently whenever i try to play, it says i don't have enough memo(Atleast 1 gig) to play. WA is already downloaded and its making it sound like i need 1 gig to load the game. It does this with both DOW and WA. DOW asks for 1.65 gigs. I know thats the aproximate size of the game but why would i need twice the memory of the file itself just to play it all of a sudden?

P.S I've played the game many times with no more than 500 megs or so.

Wait what error are you getting exactly? And what do you mean by you downloaded WA?

Free up more drive space. You need Approximately 4GB free to patch the game while installing WA.

Ok, I freed up about 4.85 gigs and reinstalled the game. I'm having the same trouble with the graphics configure utility. Whenever I try to use it, It trys to install the utility using all 3 DOW dics, plus it took up about 2 gigs!!! I just quite installing the graphics configure but why should i have te reinstall that when it loaded with the game? Its like after I install the game, the computer doesnt recognize it being there but it still drains the memory because when i tried to patch it to 1.41, it said i needed to install DOW first because the patch installer isn't there.

P.S What I meant by already downloading WA was that it was already installed on my computer, but when I tried to play it, it automatically started installing it again, asking for another 1.2 gigs or so. The same goes with the graphics configure.

Seriously, a warnings.log would be helpful.
The graphics utility is part of DoW, once you have DoW installed it will run automatically the first time you attempt to launch the game. You can always re-run it by starting it from the DoW main folder.

Can that card even run DoW at all? I thought the minimum requirement was a 32 or 64MB card... gimme a sec- yeah, just checked my copy's box. DoW needs 32MB of video memory. I believe Panzer when he says he's been playing DoW and WA for a while now, but I'm surprised he can run it at all with that video card.

It is surprising that that card can run the game, yes - but if the card was the cause of his current problems then he would almost certainly be getting the infamous spooge error.

Ok so the problem is this. You are running version 1.4, the most recent version is 1.41 however. Upon connecting to the online portion of the game DoW realizes that it is outdated and attempts to patch itself.

The patch, however, needs 3GB of space to run, because it has to extract large archives, modify data in them and then recompress them. The 3GB are only needed during the actual installation process - the data from the archives has to go somewhere, after all.

Try freeing up more space.

I used the patch as an example. The problem is I can't even play the game! I reinstalled it and I was able to play it once. But when i try to play it again it starts installing the game all over again. All of the DOW files as far as I know are still intact so why can't my system recognize the game as being installed?

Could be a problem with your windows install, possibly caused by a virus.

Check the registry (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=51566) to see if DoW is still in there.

Run full virus scans on your computer (Avast! is a good free scanner if you dont have one) and see what comes up.

Welp, nothing came up on my virus scans. Used Avastn and CA internet security suite. Triple checked the keys and they were fine. I'll probably just end up formatting mt drive. Any other idears? If not, thanks for the help.

Were there lots of registry entries for DoW? There should be a bunch which detail various error messages and one that tells the game where its installed, plus the CD key one.

Anyway, formatting may be a good idea - something is definately screwy with your system if its losing programs like that. I also recommend that when you reinstall windows you patch it all the way up to SP2 this time - theres lots of security and bug fixes in the two service packs, you should keep your windows install up to date.
