Beta Account locking me out of playing regular game...

Howdy, I finally bought the game after 2 years since the beta, and the beta account is already registered with Gamespy as "Argenex", and refuses to let me login or create a new account under "Argenex" or my email address,
argenex@argenex.net and argenex@gmail.com

What a pain in the arse. 2 weeks now I've not been able to play online. Is there some simple solution to this or is there so many hoops that require a solution that I might as well give up on it like I did with Half-Life 2?

You can try logging in at www.gamespyid.com and changing your account details, failing that I'm afraid you'll have to come up with a new one.

If you have to make a new name you dont need to make a new email address, just make one up - gamespy doesnt actually check to see if it exists.
