As a continuation of Hangar-8's and Mirage Knight's previous threads - this thread will deal with discussing footage for IGN's third and four trailers on the Tau Commander and the Necron Nightbringer/Lord videos.

Please no Balance discussion remember most of them could have their Stats Boosted or Nerfed.

Please no Flaming :hippy: .

Agree? thanks

Enjoy the discussion.

not a question but a minor gripe; i just wish the tau commander's armor looked more like shadowsun's. especially the helm.

-also, i hope this thing gets head animations.

-also, i hope those are just placeholder missile launcher sounds borrowed from the whirlwind.

<leaves before more gripes may be conjured>

Remember the things we see in the video are not final, so yes i suppose it's a placeholder, and about the head anymations i dunno if it could move the head with that helm :p.

the thing is, right now it looks too much like the guy's got a tiny 'surveillance camera' robot head. some head animations would clearly illustrate where the head begins and the upper torso ends. i don't know. right now it just looks like a tiny robot head rather than a helmet :/

wtf?! ZERONIX?! ....

anyways

I think that IS shadowsun's armour... the Stealth SUit XV22 or something
Shadowsun can also have his helmet closed, which is what is the helmet on the Tau Commander

Wait... Shadowsun is the only Tau supposed to have it
Since he's testing it...

Could that mean... that IS shadowsun ?!

The nightbringer looks uber-pro btw...

Yeah, I've heard of that. Seems to be a problem for some guys ... ;)

I don't know, I couldn't hear the guys screaming WTF when they built the Eldar Farseer.

That's because Eldar are elves.

Guys guys, I just forgot that Shadowsun was a guy

My life has not had any Tau in it for quite some time now besides the occasional mentions of Dark Crusade. The new Tau Codex is quitely sitting in my bookshelf as we speak!

Anywho, thanks for correcting me

Firewarriors are still the coolest models in all of the Tau army :D I must admit that I am hoping that that Firewarriors will be incorporated into some very good strat. I'm also hoping that a strat involving Firewarriors and Stealth Suits will also be created, although that will probably not be happening since I see that:

- Pathfinders will be heretic equivalents
- Firewarriors will be Chaos Space Marine equivalents
- Stealth Suits will be Chaos Raptor equivalents

Strat-wise or Role-wise that is. I'm not saying that they are equivalent by power/strength/etc

A man can dream though...

Nightbringer.

The Tau thing just looked cool also how he floated instead of walking.

The Necron vid i really had the feeling the had no fear (but they really have no fear) Nightbringer looked aswm just the move where he grapped a space marine and splatterd them.

This game is a must ;) nightbringer rulez and the lord looked cool whit the cape :)

I'd think that pathfinders are actually a tier above the firewarriors. Rule's wise, same armor same stats, only they all get pulse carbines and the all powerful markerlight. I'd imagine that the Firewarriors are going to have Tac Marine, maybe termie, firepower, but be cultists in close combat. Like it should be. Kroot should be T2, with Kroot Ox at T3.

There was a big, long and eventually pointless discussion about the nature of the Tau commander's battlesuit. While it's not identical to the XV-22, to me it's close enough. And it's not Shadowsun, since there's the rule about not using special characters.

Well, I have the Commander Shadowsun model sitting on my table right now and I can tell you that the Tau Commander's suit in the game is diferent from the suit that Commander Shadowsun wears. Her XV22 armor doesn't have jets behind her calf.

How many times has been discussed already?

Anyways, how many scarabs swarms exist in that video? Perhaps every 'unit' reinforced will actually show three scarabs instead of just one (based on the fact that their kill animation involves three scarabs)?

We don't know in what timeframe DC is, so the XV22 might not be a test suit anymore, and that is why the Tau commander might be wearing it ;).

I suppose they are like gretchins, but instead of 2 gretchins per unit it will be 3 scarabs.

Anyone up for a grot vs scarab fest? :jest:

Now that should be more fun that frog sticking!

Klaus88
25th Jun 06, 10:55 AM
No it wouldn't. Grots don't have an area effect weapon and that's the only thing that can hurt scarbs.

Why do you people assume that scarabs are immune to everything but AoE damage? Heavy infantry is vulnerable to plasma, does that mean that it is immune to bolter fire? NO!

Shuma
26th Jun 06, 10:04 AM
I suppose they can be damaged by Bolter fire, but they are easier to kill with AoE damage... and faster.

Gue'la Brewer
26th Jun 06, 10:34 AM
Of course they can be damaged by other weapons. It would be dumb for relic to basically invent a new class of armor/infantry, then give them only to the necrons and make the other races tech up just to deal with them. Scarabs in the rules are twice as vulnerable to AoE weapons as they are to other weapons.

I guess this means they will use the name "Nightbringer" in DC then.

LoRd KoRn

Yes they will use the name "Nightbringer" as it seams and yes Scarabs are NOT immune to everything that is not a AOE weapon. Ofcourse you can't be sure but in this case its 99% for sure.
