View Full Version : patch 1.50 desyncs me in every multi game

Today I have fully reinstalled Dawn of War, upgraded it from 1.01 to 1.40, then installed Winter Assault, then upgraded to 1.41, and then upgraded to 1.5

The first thing I did was to play a skirmish game against CPU, just to see how the changes feel. But there were no changes. I thought that maybe skirmish game wasn't upgraded to 1.5 for some reason (like, why would you play against CPU, when you can play via GameSpy?).
So I launched GameSpy, entered my account, joined a game, and exactly when the game started, I got a huge error on the screen saying like: "Desynchronisation detected - data doesn't match" (I can't say exactly how it looked in english, as I'm playing polish language version). The next online game did the same.

For some funny reason it seems like DoW thinks it has been upgraded, but it wasn't. It even shows in the top left corner of main menu, that the engine version is 1.50...

Please help. I wanted to have a Warhammer holidays.

EDIT: I don't think that you'd require any of my logs or dxdiag files, as the game ran fine before 1.50, moreover - it ran extremly well. Never had any problems with it, so I don't suppose it's a hardware issue.

EDIT2: I've just checked WH40k, and WH40kWA executables. My trusty WinXP says they're both version 1.4.0.0... it's bad isn't it?

Post a warnings.log please. Got any mods installed?

No nothing, just pure DoW + WA; but you can close this topic now. Somebody had the same issue here, and posted it.

Looks like the patching program has some problems, and sometimes just fails to update executables fully. As one of the mods suggested a fresh install in a new directory to avoid any references to the previously installed game helps.

...but takes a lot of time.

There are problems when the game is still running during the patching process, if this occurs then a clean reinstall is the only solution.
