View Full Version : Winter Assault Won't Even Start Up

I just purchased the Warhammer 40k Game Of The Year edition, and installed it. After playing DOW for awhile, I decided to check out Winter Assault, because in the past when I only had DOW I beat it, so there was little reason for me not to see what's new in the expansion. Problem is, when I try to run winter assault, it basically sounds like its reading the play cd, only nothing happens. If i try to open the file again soon after the first time, a pop up appears saying "Failed To Run Winter Assault; Failed to launch Winter Assault, please reinstall". So I did reinstall, and afterwards, it's the same thing that keeps happening. I find this odd because DOW works perfectly, so why wont WA? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried using the search engine but I keep pulling up nothing, thanks.
hmm, lets see a warnings.log please.
Also, have you tried patching to 1.5? That allows both DoW and WA to run without the disk and could bypass whatever is causing you problems.

Thats interesting - that log shows you playing DoW.
Could you attempt to play WA again and then see if it generates a new log please, the log will be very short and hopefully say why WA isnt loading.

Oddly enough.....it looks like its working now, and really I havent done anything to the folder or shortcut since i first installed it. Cant be just because i reset it, I tried a couple times after I reset it and no go...very odd...so I guess I basically just wasted your time, sorry bout that.
Dont worry about it - there could still be a problem there, if it refuses to run again immediately go and see if theres a warnings.log and then come here and show us. If it was just a one off issue then enjoy the game :)
