You mean the Iron cross? I believe they are stg44's.
As you can see they are quite similar. Infact, Mikhail Kalashnikov used the stg44 as the basis for the ak47.

The Stg 44 is what the AK-47 was based on, so no surprise that they look similar.

The first "modern" rifle ever made. It was also exteremely rare and only towards the end of WW2 I believe.

From 1944 onwards. It was an assault weapon meant to fill the void between SMGs and rifles. It was accurate to about 500-600m and could fire at 500rpm. It was actually widely used and the demand for it was high.

i also read somewhere that it could jam very easily on mud, water, even dirt, and not survived a tank rolling on it :)
AK47 survives all that. US soldiers dropped their m16 for this baby in Vietnam, its my favorite weapon.
my favorite ww2 weapon is the mosin nagant. i love bolt action rifles.
