View Full Version : What could be causing long load time?

For some reason, my computer loads things slower than others. I've noticed this in Battlefield 2 and Company of Heroes. A friend of mine who has almost the same system, but worse video card, loads faster than me. It's odd.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1GB of RAM
Radeon x800XL
Anyone know what could be causing it?
It's the 1GB of RAM. I have almost the identical system at home (X850 instead), and when I upgraded to 2GB my machine loaded BF2 about 10 times faster. I have a ton of junk loaded so Windows was taking up about 60% of my RAM as well.

I have about 2.5GB of RAM and I always have to wait for the other players :)
It's really a difference.
Now it's the X600XT that kills me

Yeah, I definently got my experience with different levels of RAM. I originally had 1 GB and loading was okay. Then one of my RAM cards went bad and I had 512 MB. Wow, big difference. I decided that that was a good time to get an upgrade. Got 2 GB and now my computer blows through loading times way fast. Other than that, I really didn't see much of a difference, but not bad if I say so myself! :nyah:
I have
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1.5GB of RAM
ATI Radeon X1900gt
Load times seem to be around 20-30 seconds for me. Of course I usually have to wait another 30-40 seconds for everyone else to load so it doesn't really matter.

2GB of RAM will help, but there could be problems with your motherboard drivers/IDE drivers also.
It'd be helpful if you could post a warnings.log file after signing online and playing a SINGLE game.

Also do a defrag on your hard drives, that will definitely help with access times and load times with games.
