View Full Version : You guys have seriously got to tweak the AI.

I hate the AI players in this game. :Slap:

They seemed designed to be as annoying as possible, exploiting both their awareness of the entire battlefield and where every single unit is regardless of line of sight, as well as the ability to command all their units with a thought.

I'm tired of them somehow having the resources to spam units so ludicrously AND spam commander abilities.

We cannot find a fun balance at all. Easy is way too easy. Normal is often easy, but at other times will spam so many tanks it's not even funny. Hard usually either spam city and ultra supreme point ninjas, or relatively normal. Expert... No.

I can have squads out there swiping points constantly, but I am restricted to only commanding one unit at a time, and having to follow line of sight rules. I don't know where that one building across the map is without actually seeing it, or knowing that your engineers have ran back to repair the HQ without seeing it.. Or, that the defenders of a strategic point have left... Without seeing it. Even with the map roughly equally controlled, the population cap is far too low to be able to defend your base, attack, ninja points, and defend your own points. It's somewhat easier to do this against most human players because they are limited just like you. This is mostly an issue vs. the AI. We can't micromanage every unit we have at the same time.

I don't like how you are forced to rush so much because the AI is designed to rush you. Rushing is so boring and not everyone likes that sort of game. Make an AI the appeals to the non rushers, please!

The AI is fine. You do not have to rush if you know what you're doing.

Spam is EASY to counter. The most common spam I see is Axis Stug spam, but I ALWAYS have a motor pool up at that point and can make AT guns.

The constant pioneer territory ninjaing is annoying, but far from unstoppable. You have three options:

1) put an observation post there, so they need to destroy it to take it.

2) Put an MG nest there.

3) block off the area with sandbags

All cost 0 population

Hm, never had a chance to play against the AI, only against the Beta AI in the Demo Beta and the Multiplayer Beta.

So you already own the full game? :p

He's talking about the beta AI, which is reportedly the retail AI as well. Surely that's obvious.

Yes I know what he is talking about.
But I can't believe this is the retail AI, seriously.

You didn't though...

Yes, 0 population, but you're forgetting munitions is needed for MG nests. I wouldn't say it's easy to stop a spam though.

I think the AI engineer/pioneer rushing even on expert is too easy to beat. Basically it ensures that a quick MG/Sniper combo in the right places will seriously screw it over. You can hold some points on the map almost indefinitely with a single well placed MG42 or .50cal. One sniper cloaked in a suitable piece of cover will also hold a point indefinitely as well as easily get up to veteran status. So long as you hold more fuel than the CPU you can easily win nearly all the time.

one thing Relic's past RTS games have taught me is to make good use of the Pause button to reassess the battle scene and issue commands. ;)

Any time I have a sniper, MG nests etc covering a strategic point, they invariably bring a tank in. I've tried blocking them in with sandbags and barbed wire, it does give you a lot more time but they stand there shooting at it and eventually they destroy it. There isn't enough population to adequately cover the points so they are constantly swapping hands and to me it just gets tedious. I'd rather spend more time fighting and having fun with that instead of constantly retaking points.

If they are bringing in armor to take a point, they are no longer just running around to ninja points, and are starting to actually seriously attack them. Remember that tanks don't have a retreat button. Bring up an AT gun and rape that tank. Unless it's a tiger, you can also put up tank traps.
