Very good information!
As I see in 5 you are really doing your best so that even the biggest fools (Dont all point to me!) can make a mod.
Well thats more of a joke, but if you can make it true I'm sure CoH will turn into a very populair game (as if it isn't populair already but maybe there is still one guy out the wondering what CoH is :bag: ).
Anyway good job, I'm already looking forward to all 4 editor's!
Keep up the good work!
One question though, which editors are already in the game when it comes out?

One question though, which editors are already in the game when it comes out?I asked Relic "mod tools - will they be available on the ship date, or will they be released at a later date?" to which the answer was "Mod tools will not be available at launch. We will release them at a later date, likely in a separate download". My guess (from DoW experience) is that all of the tools will be released in one group, and none will come with the game when it comes out. Until a more definate answer is found I won't add that to the FAQ :D
Congrats on moderator status Corsix. I'm sure you will end up as a great leader of this forum. Now less sucking up and some questions:
1. What program was used to make the models (IE can we only use a specific one for exporting)?
2. Is it true that every unit has 1500 anims.
3. Detailed info about textures. (are all the colour, bump etc. maps contained in the one file?)

4. Polycount.Added to FAQ with answer "The allied sherman tank is around 4,450 polygons, an axis volksgrenadier is upward of 6,307 polygons and the allied barracks is 3,765 polygons."

Interesting set of events for Corsix, indeed.
Looks like some useful info there too.
However, I've heard that Company of Heroes supports Normal mapping right?
How does one take advantage of this, assuming that 3ds MAX 7 is being used for this purpose?

Congrats on the job corsix, I'm sure you'll lead this section with brilliance and a steady hand.
The FAQ looks good too by the way. Be sure to keep it updated as new information becomes available.

so any ideas yet on what software is needed to make CoH models?
6th Sep 06, 3:50 AM
Mmmm, check out the FAQ, but these tools will be needed:
5) What official mod tools are coming?
* The Movie Maker, which allows users to create their own movies using scripted actions and sequences.
* The Unit Editor, allowing players to customize unit attributes and abilities in addition to importing their own models.
* The Attribute Editor, which allows modders to change the properties, such as resistance to damage or flammability, of objects found in the game.
* The Map Maker, allowing users to create their own maps.

My guess is MAX, but which version you need I don't know. You'll also need Relic's max -> CoH model format exporter.

As for the map maker, do you think this will be mission cousin? Mission girl maybe?
10th Sep 06, 6:11 PM
If they use Max, I hope they are below version 8, because I only have Max7. We will all know soon Huh? If they did use max8, I hope they make an importer usable for Max7.
