It's just easy. Take control of all the squads on the beach and rush them to the line while moving through Tank Traps to Tank Traps. Once you're there you'll need to move an Engineer squad. Take control of infantry nearby and use them as meatshields, move them first then micro-control the Engineers like bfore.

After the short movie move a infantry squad and the sniper up, throw Grenades at the HMG squads, and move. Remember to take cover!
The squads near the bunker is just easy to be dealt with, then Engineers move up to do the trick.

Once the Bunker is gone, move your suqad near the Big gun. I'll suggest you just shoot them. Once the gunners are dead, take control of the gun and melt anything you see with that. You may want to blow up the bunkers nearby for the Secondary mission.

When the 2 Big Guns behind are dead you've won the mission;)

Actually is called the 8.8 cm Flugabwehr-Kanone (FlaK) 36/37 - Mod 1940 , which included the protective shield on the gun :)

Its the EXACT model used in COH

<3 wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/88_mm_gun#FlaK_18.2C_36_and_37)

Anyway, the first mission was super easy, even on Hard, but I have yet to try it on Expert... The 88s don't seem to do much damage to infantry :yech: , then again they never were supposed to, lol...

You can end the mission extremely quickly by exploiting the following the fact. Once you take out the crew manning the 88, man the gun yourself with a squad of your own soldiers, select the 88, pan the screen up north so the objective 88's are visible, and then attack (right click) the target 88s to destroy them. You don't need line of sight, you don't need to move your soldiers, you dont need to approach the guns at all, and a single hit from your 88 destroys the target 88s. Its a cheap way to finish the mission in seconds once you breach the innitial bunkers. In my opinion this should be fixed in a patch. The 88 should have a smaller range.

The 88 was an AA gun, if I'm not mistaken, that was sort of adopted into an antiarmor weapon.

AA guns had a helluva lot longer range than most infantry weapons..they had to shoot a long ways up in the sky.. :)

This is not an "exploit", this is just a bonus for clever players. Why should you go waste dozens of bodies attempting to clear the trenches in front of a few artillery pieces, when you can destroy the artillery pieces at range and make the enemies in the trenches withdraw, since they have nothing to defend?

I would consider it an exploit as the gun is 100% accurate, has no range, one-hit one-kill, and does not require line of sight.

Now see me being from an FPS background, I'd probably take each squad and try to get it covered, etc... My point being that I'm kind of stupid when it comes to RTS games.

So what's the best way. To use real life strategy, or select all of your troops and rush them? I'm going to start playing this weekend I think. I'm buying the game this weekend.

Since noone posted it yet, I'll do.

Medal objective:

Secure the left side of the screen (Red Dog) Just grenade the HMG and kill the grenadiers.

Once you get a sniper try and get him all vetted up so he can walk around cloaked just as fast as he can not cloaked. After you get your sniper all vetted up the campagn can be a breeze. Although, not as easy as capturing the 88, I guess.... A good way to get him all vetted up is have the sniper do your dirty work on the left side of the map in order for you to obtain the secondary objective (infantry badge?). Dont worry abbout the riflemen squads getting killed because you will get all new squads.... comments?

If you have trouble getting the sniper to the shingle, just tell him to camo and walk him to the shingle. This mission just seems chuck full of exploits, eh?

No WWII-themed video game is complete without an Omaha Beach level! The only difference between this level and those in Call of Duty or Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is the bird's eye view of the destruction.

The first task should be to get the sniper to the shingle. Find the sniper on the right side, close to the shingle, and move him to safety. Put the sniper into stealth mode and move him to the shingle. Hope that he doesn't get fragged by a random artillery strike.

The next stage is the objective itself: get squads to the shingle. To ensure success later in the mission, it's important to make sure the squads that make it to the shingle are intact: that they have all six riflemen present. Otherwise storming the cliff with half-dead squads will be all the harder. Frequent saves are needed to ensure this, and this is why the "zerg" method - selecting a bunch of squads and sending them forward, isn't very good: it will complete the objective, but likely leave you with decimated squads.

Newly arrived and healthy rifle squads are found at the shoreline. Select one and move it from cover to cover up to the shingle. Ensure that the cover you find is green, or "deep cover". The tank traps are a good place to find such cover, as are the deeper craters. Try to wait until the machine guns (MG) are otherwise occupied mowing down other squads before moving the squad under your control. Rinse and repeat with the Engineers in the 2nd part.

Once your rifle squads, engineer and sniper are at the shingle, you can move up the cliff. The easy way is up the right side, but for the medal you must take the left beach exit, which is harder to attack. The scripted event will place your squads at both left and right entrances regardless of where you originally sent them, so you will have to shift the squads on the right side over to the left, using the shingle or the cliff wall as cover. You may need to nade the right-side MG first before moving, otherwise your squads will be pinned.

The left side is very steep and well-covered, with a couple of firing positions out of range of rushing riflemen with grenades. This is where your sniper comes in. Once your riflemen have fragged the first MG emplacement, have your sniper kill the ones at the top of the cliff. Move up the hill and the medal is yours!

Once atop the hill, regardless of which beach exit you choose, you will now have to destroy the 88mm guns shelling the beach. This stage is pretty much trench warfare: always make sure your squads have adequate cover, and use grenades to clear traverses. Keep your engineer in a safe spot: he'll be needed to destroy the German bunkers. Once you work your way into striking distance of the 88's, they're easy enough to dispatch. Their crews are too intent shelling the poor buggers on the beach to defend against grenades or a concerted rush by riflemen.

Sorry, but the last comment really annoys me. The first three missions are tutorial missions because you get tons of Manpower resource to make mistakes like that. But honestly, that is no way to run a war.

For this mission, this is my walkthrough:

(1) Grab as many units as possible and rush to the shingle. Forget about cover. YES, FORGET ABOUT COVER. The reason is, there are only so many HMGs on you. If you stand still and move one unit at a time, you will lose more from attrition over time. If you rush them all, you are only exposed to fire for X seconds from Y guns. If you manually move 5-10 squads, you are exposing everyone to fire from Y guns by X seconds multiplied by the time it takes to move 5-10 squads. I think mathematically rushing works out better for manpower preservation. As soon as anyone gets to the shingle, they are immune to damage.
It does not appear feasible to snipe the HMGs (by not moving the sniper to the shingle, whereupon you would lose control over their actions). It looks like the enemy unit health either doesn't go down or goes down very, very, slowly from sniping.

(2) Cloak the sniper and move him, but not with other infantry as theoretically they would draw fire.

(3) Keep all units behind the shingle and in cover. One unit slightly forward to draw fire. Sniper behind so he won't draw fire even when uncloaked. Snipe all the HMGs then walk up to the bunker and blow it. Apparently you cannot snipe the bunker.

(4) Move all units to cover. Grab any LMGs you see to out-shoot the bunker reinforcements. Focus on the nearest bunker, then defend your position and advance slowly.

(5) Sight HMGs for the sniper from hard cover. Wait for them to be clear before advancing. Advancing is really only to sight for the sniper and your own HMGs, not to out-gun the Germans (especially on Expert difficulty). Cover the trenches with LMGs to kill the reinforcements as soon as they come out. Walk up and blow the bunker. Rinse and repeat. Clear the beach for your medal, satchel bomb the two cannons for the win.

It's all about projecting firepower (i.e., the sniper's vastly superior range). That's what an army is about, IMO.

Remember that you *can* reinforce squads instead of waiting for new squads to reform.
