Is there any estimate to how much time its going to be until mod tools are released? I'm just wondering if its days, weeks, or months.

Also, I hope they release all the tools at once.

The FAQ says 'soon' and 'probably before the end of september' in brackets.

All I care about is the map editor, hopefully it won't be as irritating as DoW's was...

I'll be happy if they just release a Map Editor and nothing else. If there's one thing this game needs, it's more maps, because the 15 in the game do get a bit old after time passes. Heck, I'd like to see a Community Map Pack for CoH much in the same DoW gets.

I really don't understand why not release map editors and mod tools with the game... Where the loss for a company ?

Maybe they couldn't finish preparing the tools before the game's release deadline. ;)

In Buggo's latest video interview they stated something that they where working on the documentation for the tools. Also that the tools will be "familiar" to people who have used the DoW tools.

screw the documentation, we can handle it right away, right? I mean, if the devs can, so can we?

i agree screw the documentation there is nothing in the documentation that i wont learn from an hour or 2 of pressing buttons and clicking things that i dont know what they do. and if i mess something up i can just reinstall and b4 i know it i will b a pro modder.

Without the documentation however, how do you know how to find out how do to things. You cant just guess how the animation works or guess on what is needed for a model to work ingame. You need some documentation to tell you the requirements for certain things to be usable in the game.

Try and fail, pathfinder. But since I don't do modeling, I still say screw the documentation.

And it's also not too different from DoW, so if you could do it in DoW, you can probably do it here too. And I can't remember much about documentation for the DoW tools either, other than the how to set up a mod thingy.

I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. Some ppl just happen to learn differently. Some can just be handed a program with no documentation, and after hours of fiddling, just happen to gain an understanding. For others if given a book about it they can do it. Others still can't do it unless someone else shows them. It's just a matter of learning preference.

Learning how to learn is a great skill. Like DarkelfLord from what I've seen CoH looks the same (coding wise) as DoW and LUA is VERY easy to learn.

Yes.

Using Corsix's Beta Modding Studio Program, I saw that most of the files weren't too confusing. People who has basic knowledge of modding should easily get into these kinds of things.

I've never seen DoW map editor before, but I hope it's as convenient as other map editors out there (Aurora toolset... anyone? :p).

You know we were lucky to get tools for DoW. And when they were first released, they were so beta, they were almost alpha... er yea. :stick:

Anyways, I'll be happy with anything Relic decides to share with the community. And given Relic's track record it's probably going to happen.

By the way, DoW map editor wroks just fine... you just need to be nice to it.

Anything is better than the BF2 mod tools... Some days it feels like they are still an alpha :/
