Im just going to write a small tips on modding.

First of all, the best way to learn is to fail. So by failing your learn to correct your mistakes even if it takes along time to do so.

Consult the forums, dont repeate question that has allready been answered. A question is only answered to a certain ammount.

Dont be afraid to delete different parts of the atr. folder in the mod tools. If something you deleted crashes the game or makes it act weird. Just go into your mod folder and delete the file you messed up. Next time you load your mod tool all the original information will be there.

Allways make sure UI is correct. If in doubt check the UI because if this isnt correct then it wont show up in game. Same goes for requierments, and again deleteing requierments wont mess up your game.

Good luck! and have fun.

more tips, feel free to add. if this post doesnt belong here feel free to delete.

PS. PMing me or adding me on MSN just to ask modding questions will result in those questions not being answered.

My Tip #1 : Always go beyond what you want to achieve... Don't just give up because it looks hard. Research and destroy- you will eventually get it.

My Tip #2 : Be acceptant of the engine's limitations :)

The best tip there is is try and fail.

Also, some common sense is useful, since most of the stuff has rather self-evident names.

And before asking questions here, do a search through the forum to see if the question has been answered before.

i worked out most things just by doing little bits at a time. example just changing how many dudes in a squad was a big challenge first off, now its simple! just start slow, change a few small things, test them out, then build off it!

@cyborg

You obviously are not using this thread wisely. Use a search feature, I'm 100% sure that you will come up with a community tool (it's a sticky thread anyway *hint* *hint*)

Get a good team together.

Think about how it shall look before the start.

Communication is very important for a group of modders.

Use hamachi to test.

It can get very very frustrating due to all the testing that is envolved in good mods. Some maps sound great on paper others actually work good in the game without destroying it.

Never give up...!
