v) this is about these forums. some mods are simply too trigger happy with their mod-powers and in turn i find myself enjoying these forums less and less. one mod in particular constantly closes/locks threads with no real justification and seems to like nothing more than to "flex his muscles". i own and operate several game sites that support large communities and would simply not tolerate my mods behaving in this manner. it really makes the whole forum feel uptight and as a result encourages people to head elsewhere for their discussions.

I have the opposite opinion about the way things are modded around here. I feel that they do a great job of keeping things concise and on-topic. It's actually rather refreshing to be able to come to a board where you don't need to sift through a thousand meaningless posts in order to aquire the information you seek.

Which moderator do you have an issue with, and can you give some examples of their unjustified locks?
We can't deal with anything if we don't have specifics.

I suppose your point is quite valid but there are times when threads are locked around here for very little good purpose - and i guess it just bugs me

I'd rather not name names or specific threads - it's just not that big of a deal to me, really. There are specific cases that have annoyed me but I can deal..

We can't improve this place without specifics. Essentially, you're going "something's wrong with your forums but I won't tell you what". That's frustrating and counter-productive.
No one has ever gotten in trouble here for calmly and politely raising an issue with a staff member.

karmatic, I've been here for a long time and let me assure you that you can critisise just about anything - as long as your critique is not flambaiting and even somewhat constructive, your tread will stay open (excluding actions of other members which might get it locked).
Please, do give your specifics.

I personally read more locked threads than just about anything else, they somehow draw my eye.
Aside from that I don't think there has ever been a thread locked down that I felt I honestly lost the chance to post something useful in.

I agree Dooks, it's like a car accident on the side of the road. You just need to know.

karmatic i urge you to list specific examples and the moderator(s). The staff we have are all adults and can take constructive criticism, if they could not, they would not be staff. Without examples how can we make that section better or at the very least explain to you why decisions were made.
If it is a matter of calling a staff out in public, then feel free to private message me directly. If i am the moderator in question, you are more then welcome to mention my name in here with examples that back your opinions.
I leave the final decision in your hands, however i will state again, that without specific examples and names... it offers little for us to work with.
Thank you.

I have yet to see a real problem at all, if mods are too soft then we will have a nice invasion of "leet" speakers and God knows what else! I would have to say the mods and admins do a great job and unlike some forums like "GameSpot" and other places these mods don't allow 8 year olds making posts just to do nothing but whine with no real reason behind their "problems".
EDIT: I just noticed something a bit funny, off topic though, Soulblighter (http://member.php?u=11) you have a join date of dec 1969 :wow:

these threads are for constructive input too. now shoo back to the GD unless you can make a valid contribution.

In all honesty, after analysing this case, I think our good man Karmatic was frustrated by his conversation with ceejayoz in the topic linked above, and decided to get cj into trouble through venting some bad rumor about "some bad moderator doing naughty things".
After looking through 7 pages of CoHforum(where Karmatic usually is, judging from his posts), I find there to be very little evidence of moderators disbehaving. Actually, that ain't true. I didn't find anything at all that could hint this.
I did find a thread of karmatic being impatient about the movie maker tool, which might also have been a source of is frustration.
So, in conclusion, the reason why he's not posting any specific names or threads is because there aren't any.

He'd have to be psychic to be mad at me for posts I hadn't yet made.

Well, then my efforts were wasted! After searching a few more CoH pages, including a couple of the fearsome balance subforum, I did not see anything that was a possible moderator flex.
