Now I know its not a relic game, but its got a very relicy feel to it, from the camera control to the stylish 50ies-ish ship design.
So, is there any chance we can get a a couple SotS avatars for those of us who want to have our favorite race ships or something?

These are the Relic Forums. Publicly-available avatars have always been, and will continue to be, either specific to Relic games or to the work of individuals from this forum (i.e. artwork, mod screenshots etc.). Sorry Alliance, but this is a question of the forum's identity, and one we think is pretty important.
I'm going to leave this thread open for a bit in case people want to air dissenting opinions but I have to warn you, the chances of you changing our minds are slim and none.

I remember way back in 2002 or so there were avatars from Star Trek and Star Wars mods for Homeworld. Were they removed because they're not exactly "Relic," or IP reasons, or just some database wipe?

Cataclysm is not a fair comparison. It's Homeworld and Barking Dog would never have been able to do that game without Relic's active help, but I do admit not knowing how procedures work between "original game developers" and "expansion/sequel developers".
