View Full Version : The Deamons
11th Oct 06, 5:09 AM
The year is 2178, Humanity has grown and spread outwards from Earth. The growth of Corporations has been the main reason and source of money for the colonisation of the other worlds in the system. The Moon has become a retreat for the elite and wealthy of Human Society, also the HQ of the UESC, the United Earth Space Command, which overseas the construction of colonies and spacecraft. Mars has become and new interest of the major corporations on Earth, with mining bases and factories marking its surface, only workers, supervisors and soldiers bother to travel there.
A few years earlier a exploration vessel by the name of Event Horizon disappeared with all hands on its first run. This vessel held onboard a expermental "Core" which was supposedly cabable of faster than light travel. A few years later, it reappeared, a rescue team was sent. What was made public was that the team found no crew, detonated the ship and returned home. The truth was far more horrifying.
The ship had torn its way into another dimension, a dimension of pure chaos and pure evil. Only three members of the crew made it back from the rescue mission, one which died a few weaks later, another which commited suicide and the third was institutionalised. From the mindless babble which streamed from their mouths doctors managed to peice together what happened.
The ship had come back from this "Hell", but it was alive, it got inside its crew's head's and tore them apart. The rescue teams Captain was swallowed swallowed by the void when another crazed crewman activated the core and opened to portal to the other dimension. They disappeared without a trace. They thought the horror was over.
A few days ago UESC detected a huge enery spike inside the gravity well of Neptune, the planet where the Event Horizon was last seen. Several probes were sent back what they saw: A huge hole had been torn in space, through it the same Neptune could be seen but what was more disturbing was that Event Horizon was back, and it was not alone. Thousands of ships, twisted and distored, looked like they have been created by the Devil himself were pouring out of the portal.
In just a few days this horde had advanced through to the inner rim of the system, towards Earth. The UESC responded by launching a massive assault, which ended up in thousands of losses and thousands of deaths at the hands of the Deamon fleet. Only a few batallions remain, and the UESC has finished construction of a special fleet of battlecruisers. These vessels are designed to be completely self-reliant, they can hold their own against thousands of enemiesbut have not yet been in any real combat situations. These ships have been names the Archangels and they are Humanities last chance of survival.
The first line of defence has been drawn at Mars, if that falls all forces will pull back to the Moon than to the Orbital Defence Grid surrounding Earth its-self. The garrisons on Earth, the Moon and Mars have been mobilised and await their orders.
The Boardwar bit.
This is based lightly on Lestaki's "Hunters" boardwar. The rules and guidelines are based on the ones in his/her thread. (Hope you dont mind).
The Archangels are highly versatile vessels capable of full-scale fleet engagements or guerrilla actions. They will command their own small fleets, but will be part of the 'last Human fleet'. This is a last resort, and Earth has dedicated its full force to stopping this fleet. There are also large battalions of troops on Mars, the Moon or on Earth, these will defend any installations on each of the planets (not that the Moon is a planet, but shutup).
You are a commander of either one of the Battalions on the Planets, or one of the Archangels.
SCS (Special Combat System): (see below)
SCS Notes: The collective term for some of the more experimental one-man systems available to Lone Wolf leaders, varying from battlesuits to orbital frames to tanks. These provide non-psionic players with a chance to match their cousins’ abilities in individual combat if they so wish- but any and all players, psychic or anything else, are not one-man armies. One good rocket hit will normally finishing everything except a tank, and the tank is slow and no use in space combat. And notably, if your commander is using these all the time, then he or she isn’t leading his men either. That’s their first priority, any combat ability is just a bonus.
You will design and personalise your own Archangel or Battalion. The Archangels are versatile ships, able to support all manner of weapon systems, some exterimental in themselves, so you plenty of choice when you are designing our own warmachine. owever, all are essentially equal and I will be checking them to make sure this is the case. A well-placed Lone wolf can ambush and destroy a small frigate squadron, perhaps escorting a cruiser, or do significant damage to a capital ship from the rear. They are not able to take on anything approaching a fleet by themselves, of course. For inspiration, I recommend Langy's excellent technology list in the Boardwar Resource Thread (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=30990) , though you are free to go beyond this.
Primary Weapons Systems: (these are the big ship-to-ship weapons that form the mainstay of your ship’s firepower, from lasers to torpedoes to whatever else.)
Carrier Function: (All Lone Wolves have dropships for ground forces and a limited cadre of around 75 covering fighters or frames. Individual ships can choose to specialise in this area, gaining a full compliment of such craft- but suffering from a substantial reduction in direct firepower capabilities.)
AI: (if any- these are "dumb". They can calculate but not come up with original plans in 90% of cases, though a prototype may be an exception.)
Special: (The weird stuff that fits nowhere else)
Military Forces: (this covers everything from space fighters to the footsloggers. An exhaustive list is not needed, merely write brief paragraphs on their combat doctrine and any special units.)Each Archangle carries a small force drill in boarding and ground engagements. They can be anything, but nothing too over the top.
Amount of Troops: (Can be huge but relativley average troops, or a small specialised force. But keep in mind, these are for defence of entire planets.)
Equipment: (This is what your force is equipped with obviously, it can be tanks, air support, basic weaponry, artillery ect)
Special: (The weird stuff that fits nowhere else)
You have to understand, these Deamon forces, or whatever you wanna call them, they are from a universe where our laws of physics to not apply, they are to be blunt, fucked up and fucking scary bastards.
Name: Captain Malcom Hood
Strengths: Helps out anyone in trouble, has a strong Honour code. Brilliant tactician.
Weaknesses: Due to an accident during his training when he first joined the force, Malcon has nerve damange in his right leg, which causes him to limp, he also has trouble running or basicly anything which uses them too much.
Equipment: Walking stick. Desert Eagle .50
SCS (Special Combat System): APU - These battlesuits completely enclose its Pilot, it has 2 long rage rocket launchers mounted on its 'arms', along with 2 close combat gattleing guns, and a jetback. Useful in space combat.
Backstory: Joining the force when he was young, although he had a painful unjury which damaged his right leg, Malcom rose to his current position with flashing colours and now commands one of the new Archangel Battleships.
Personality: Optimistic by nature Malcom will do all he can to help his fellow soldiers. He has a scrict honour code however and will hold by it no matter what. Malcom and his Archangel are currently stationed on the Mars defence grid, awaiting contact and conducting scouting runs.
Name: William & Clarke II
Primary Weapons Systems:
2 Ventral and 2 Dorsal mounted Magnetic Acellerator Cannons(MACs)(extreme long range, when fired at close range they tend to...shatter enemy vessels). Payload of Nuclear missiles. Point defence weapon systems.
Carrier Function: 4 Dropships each with a special forces squad of 300 men for 'mopping up' after a firestorm. 4 ship to ship boarding frigates with 200 men on each.
Armour: 5 metre thick combat-grade Titanium battleplate, able to withstand high amounts of kinetic weaponry. Useless against energy weapons of shield is breached, can withstand Nuclear strikes TO AN EXTENT. Heavily re-inforced at front of vessel.(so the ship doesnt buckle with it ramms....things.)
Shielding: Code X energy sheild, protects against energy weaponry, but most lower for plasma turrets to fire. Useless against Nuclear strikes.
Space Drives: Fusion drive - generates vast amounts of waste heat though, but with the new technology being used, the harder the drives are pushed, the more coolant is given to keep the engines from going into meltdown. Ion Drive, for high speed travel.
AI: 'Clarke' - Highly skilled in intrusion of enemy computer systems. Controls all non-essiental systems, missile guidance systems, life support(AI not essiental for this though), energy distribution, point defence, ect.
Special: Able to overcharge energy sheilds and give off a huge EMP giving The Atrax an instant advantage, however, shields will take a long time to regenerate, leaving vessel vunerable to counter-attack.
Overall Strengths: Massive firepower. Heavily reinforced battleplate - good for ramming. Huge payload.
Overall Weaknesses: Armour and shield reley heavily on each other, if one falls the other will suffer massively. If ammunition stores are hit, half the ship will litrally detonate.
So essentially Hunters with a different name?
11th Oct 06, 4:30 PM
Essentially, yes. But seeing the success of that particular boardwar I thought it copy it, but change it slightly. This is my first ever boardwar, never said it was going to be perfect. Everyone seemed to enjoy the other one, so why the hell not?
12th Oct 06, 12:27 AM
Sounds good. Looks like Talon's gonna make a reappearance.
12th Oct 06, 10:06 AM
 I did a double-take the moment I saw "the BW bit", a phrase so singularly mine... and lo, t'was mine. You actually missed some of the references to "Lone Wolves" when you copy-pasted over, you know, such as "carrier function". :p And this isn't just lightly based, either, I do "spirutal sucssessors" but I'm pretty sure I've never copied over profiles from the source. But I'm okay with it, it's the sincerist form of flattery... I won't join this one, as I'm already running two at once, but you have my consent. Perhaps a PM for permission would be nice next time, though. ;)

Name: Terry Higgins
Strengths: Planetary Sieges and Frontal Assaults
Weaknesses: Covert Stratagies
Equipment: 1 15mm Gauss Rifle
SCS: AHA- 36G Battle Armor
Backstory: Terry was born in 2143 to a military oriented family that had been in varing militaries over the centuries. Terry at the age of 18 also joined the military and displayed a strong leadership potential. Also he seemed to accept combat as a sport. In simulations and in skirmishes with pirates he ordered reckless tactics which, while worthy of court-martial, won him and his crew victory after victory. When the Event Horizon incident occured he was given command of one new Archangel. He set to work modifing it to his personal likes and is now waiting for orders in low-sync-orbit with the Lunar Defense Grid.
Personality: Rash and impulsesive, but can whip his men into a fighting frenzy and inspires loyalty. Enjoys a good joke with the men under his command, and as such spends much of his time with the men aboard his ship.
The UES Ryoken (http://chaosmarch.com/images/ships/conqueror.gif)
Primary Weapons Systems: 6 Triple barrel Gauss Cannons with (180 degree truning radius), 2 forward fixed torpedo tubes
Carrier Function: Enough Space for 5 squadrens of Warrior class fighters(7 per squadren)
Armour: 5.5m thick Carbon Nanotube Composite (Super strong, can withstand repeated nuclear strikes but isn't invincible)
Shielding: EMP (Is on the inside of the hull. Protects all electronics from the effects of emps ONLY. Is totaly useless against everything else.)
Point Defence: Ageis System (combines over 20 35mm rapidfire rainguns to shoot down incoming missiles, and exstensive ECM eqipment)
Space Drives: Fusion Drive
Special: Red with a large skull painted over the bridge
Overall Strengths: Heavly armed and armored excels at fighting multiple capitalship class vessels
Overall Weaknesses: Is slow and ponderus, weak under, and engine armor
12th Oct 06, 4:06 PM
I'll join soon (I dindn't join hunters fast enough...)
IC: Name: Talon Eladhra
Strengths: Use of his Skin, excellent at dodging stuff and has a cool blade style to go with it.
Weaknesses: Not good at taking commands, not good at large-scale tactics (one ship'll do just fine), doesn't understand the enemy ideals, language, but does "get the hang of" their technology(thus not good at bluffing the aliens)
Equipment: Skin, dual assault rifles, powerblades.
SCS (Special Combat System): Skin. Among the first of its kind, ArmoSkin E101 was developed from scavenged alien technology and field tested on prominent field agents. It maintains Talon's internal bodily functions and systems, as well as packing several weapon systems and a high grade AI core capable of hacking into the most advanced encryption systems.
OOC: Fallen Dragon novel. Great book.
IC: Backstory: Used to be a soldier in the Global army, and was promoted to Major after a roll successful assassination and sabotage missions. Talon was promoted to Navy Captain status when he landed a damaged ship using his Skin, and rescued all the crew onboard. Given command of a such a ship, Talon has found that this ship suits his needs perfectly, and has retained his army rank, giving him a lot of influence in the armed forces.
Personality: Independant, doesn't take to critism at all. A bit of a loner, but grows attached to people he knows after a while, and will do anything to help them.
And the same ship ;) :
Name: Fast Strike:
Primary Weapons Systems: Antimatter beams, antimatter cannons, powerful space drones for space combat and sabotage.
Carrier Function: Carries tons of drones, teleportation capabilities for boarding, all other space taken up by regeneration equipment.
Armour: Medium armour, nothing special.
Shielding: Basin tech (refer to GalWar 3 for full details).
Point Defence: Deflector shields (Star Wars ftw). Energy weapons don't do much against this! Standard munitions could get through easily though.
Warp Drives: Not much, has a crude Warp Drive that was shut down after what happened to that ship.
Space Drives: Fusion drives. Quite fast, with ability to alter direction in a split second, even in a ship of Lone Wolf size.
AI: Not much to speak of. Contains an empty system for Talon Skin AI to interface with.
Special: Regeneration, yammosks. Prototypes, sacrifice fighter cover and troop transport for ability to regenerate damage to weapon systems, basin shields, warp generator, etc. Yammosk bio-creatures - can imitate enemy codes, block enemy transmissions and generally make the Fast Strike "one of the enemy".
Overall Strengths: Very annoying (speed, Talon's AI, manueverability), superb firepower.
Overall Weaknesses: Not amazingly tough, solid munitions can eat away at it, basins can get overloaded, firepower very short range with exception of drones.
13th Oct 06, 3:59 AM
@ Gorb, or anyone else who joins:
The Event Horizon was the first ship to use a faster than light drive(warp drive) to terrible consequence, as so, only conventional drives can be used, however systems such as 'Ion Drives' which exist in the Event Horizon universe may be used to get from say Mars to Earth in a short amount of time.
Just letting y'all know.
13th Oct 06, 6:19 AM
Rabid, is this based off the movie of the same name?
Okay, edited. Talon is ready for business!
13th Oct 06, 1:14 PM
@Hydralisk, I'd expect so, the background is basically the plot of Event Horizon, except with weirdass demon thingies escaping the ship and wreaking havoc instead of it blowing up.
Will join soon.
22nd Oct 06, 4:36 PM

Personality: Quiet, but with his most trusted men and closer ones, he is ope to almost anything.
Amount of Troops:3 Million
Equipment: Gauss Rifles (Semiautomatic weapons), Nuclear Derma-suits (allows Infantry to live in a Nuclear environment), Shock Cannon tanks (can fire a shockwave, which rips apart soldiers and ships alike), Battle-Mechs (Medium, with Rockets, plasma guns and good mobility), and auto-fire artillery cannons (approximately 500,000)
Special: They can bombard entire planets with Nuclear Warheads (5 warhead restriction)
Overall Strengths: Can pack a bit of a punch, like to get entrenched, have nuclear durability, can kill at a distance
Overall Weaknesses: Tight formations, and slow mobility for dirt shooters, lack of specialties in fighting
25th Oct 06, 4:18 PM

25th Oct 06, 7:57 PM
one or two more and we might start it up...
26th Oct 06, 8:52 AM
Rapid, I could make two characters.
26th Oct 06, 11:14 AM
Name: William Conrad Vance
Strengths: Tenacious, an ace pilot and decent soldier. Very good brawler.
Weaknesses: Not the strongest guy around, tenacious to the point of endangering himself and his crew on occasion, tends to get carried away.
Equipment: Dual pistols, stunstaff and 'Vera' a full-bore Calahan auto-rifle.
SCS: A large spacefighter 'The Crimson Sunrise' painted red and heavily armed and armoured.
Backstory: No one's really sure where Vance grew up. He's never told any of his crew and the records are strangely vague or missing. He rose through the ranks, starting out as an interceptor pilot he was eventually given command of the Deep Scan Destroyer Copernicus. Having proved himself an able commander he was given command of other ships and, eventually, an Archangel.
Personality: A jocular soul, though often sarcastic, he also follows an intense code of honour. He will not attack civilians or hospital ships and the like. He also prefers a fair fight to hopelessly outnumbering and outgunning his opponent.
Primary Weapons Systems: Primarily torpedo based. The ship has twenty forward-facing tubes and five facing backwards. It is also fitted with a Snout Gun, an enormous gauss driver built right into the spine of the ship. This weapon can hurl lumps of metal the size of a house at the enemy, though it's reloading time is very slow. The bridge actually has to slide backwards onto the top of the ship to expose the muzzle of the gun.
Carrier Function: Higher than average, the Magpie carries some two hundred strikecraft, at the cost of a reduced troop complement and very few dropships.
Armour: Tritanium Alloy, five metres thick in some places, with a Syndrium supeconductor web laced through it.
Shielding: Dispersion shield. The shield's generators appear as humps along the back of the ship. They cannot be as heavily armoured as the rest fo the ship or they will overheat.
Space Drives: Standard fusion torch. Given the extremely high mass of the ship, this makes it fairly slow.
AI: None, Vance doesn't trust them.
Special: Painted black and white.
Overall Strengths: Formidably armed, incredibly well armoured and shielded.
OOC: this is far from complete, but I'll finish it later.
26th Oct 06, 2:17 PM
Name: Commander Fabian Raz
Strenghts: Always sees the good in things, which leads him to make the most decisive and precise desicions in the midst of battles. He is also a good leader.
Weaknesses:He can become really reckless in battle, and such things have given him a lot of trouble at times.
Equipment: Dual SMG's, Two-handed power sword he carries on his back, feet propulsors(sp?).
ScS: All Terrain Battlesuit.
Backstory: Fabian Raz was born in the year 2140, he entered the military when he was 16. He started his career as a normal grunt in the Earth 236th Military battallion, however, after a battle against the invading forces all his superiors were killed in combat. Only a handful of his squadron survived (including him) thanks to the suprising leadership Fabian gave. He was given command of his squadron after that, and after a series of battles, he came to direct all the 236th battalion, Which later came to be known as "Fabian's Fury". They are currently stationed on Mars, ready to defend it at all costs.
Personality: He is an inspiring leader, and likes to see his battles first-hand. He makes sure all his soldiers are well prepared for anything. He seems to always be in a self-contrloed mood, even in the most dire situations.
Name: Fabian's Fury (formerly 236th Military Division)
Amount of troops: pushing 7 million.
Equipment: Basic troop infantry (assault rifles, granades, etc), Heavy artillery, And Heavy AV battlesuits
Special: Ability to call Orbital bombardment from other fleets and battalions
Overall Strenghts: Fabian's Fury specialises in overwhelming the enemy with hordes of troops, as well as using different tactics that specialize in the situation. They are able to Adapt on the go.
Overall Weaknesses: they are a main Infantry Battalion, so aerial strikes or heavy tank attacks are prone to make a big impact on them.
OOC: Ill make it that at one point of the story he will get an archangel...
30th Oct 06, 7:07 AM
There was a movie about this called Event Horizon. You could have at least changed the name of the ship.
30th Oct 06, 4:11 PM
.....................Read the first post again, this IS the 'Event Horizon Universe'.
To everyone else - I have exams at the moment, so one they're over Ill start this BW off.
30th Oct 06, 4:12 PM
Dude thats the point it is an extension of it, read the begining at least.
31st Oct 06, 10:07 AM
Sorry, I misunderstood the storyline. Looking back at my post, it seems a bit sneery, which wasn't what I intended. I figured that if this was Event Horizon, there would be a bit at the begining saying 'Based or inspired by Event Horizon by blah blah blah'. Looking back, I don't see any need as Boardwars aren't very formal. I would play since Hunters was suposed to be good, but I've got other things to do.
OOC: Okay people, sorry for stalling, Iv had a tonne of exams and I still have a few more but to stop people getting impatient and loosing more interest than they already have, Ill start.
IC: Captain Malcom Hood stood at the command console of the William & Clarke II, Officers around him were going about their business, setting up systems and powering up the weapons. A silver veil enveloped the great vessel then disappeared. "Shields operational Sir." An Officer said. "Good good, Lieutenant Lindsay, give me a quick rundown of the ship's status."
A girl, in her early twenties turned around, she had mid-length blonde hair and was about a head shorter than Hood. "Sir, Shields are at 100%, all Weapon systems are charged and ready, Sensors are online and we are conducting a deep sweep of the system now, all essential crew are at their stations and we are ready to disengage from the outpost."
"Roger that, as you were Officer. Lieutenant Jaggers, sound the alarm and disengage from the Station."
"Yes Sir." A Young man said. Jaggers was the newest addition to the crew, although He was unarguably one of the best Pilots Hood has ever commanded. A low beeping echoed through the William & Clarke II, the bulkheads closed and final preperations were made.
"Disengaging in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Mark!" He spoke, filpping a switch. The hull echoed and the gravity suddenly shifted then corrected. "We're free Sir, under own power."
The William & Clarke II slowly drifted away from the Station, once it reached safe distance, its thrusters fired, bringing it in line with the plane of the system. It's main thruster's roared to life and shot a jet of white-hot exhaust into the space behind it.
"Lieutentant Jaggers, set course for the Phobus sector, then begin patrol. Alert all surrounding ships that we are on combat status." He said, eying the holographic display of the system nervously. "Yes Sir."
The William & Clarke II, a massive warship, it bristled with weapons, but none to noticeable as the two massive MAC turrets mounted on the top and bottom of it, all facing forward now, its engines were huge cylenderical pods, spouting white-blue tinged energy out behind it, and all the time it seemed to shimmer, as if heat radiated off it, the shields covered every surface of the ship, and if that were to be breached, weapons had to pierce 5 metres of Titanium A battleplate to do any damage. It was a true warrior.
It drifted placidly through the void, Mars in the background. Five small fighter's shot out of its hangar bay and began routine patrols, scanning the surrounding void for any sign of...life. The William & Clarke II rounded the far side of one of Mars' moon's, Phobus and began to turn around and head towards the next sector. What was not seen however, were the fact that out in the distance, the star's were slowly being blotted out...
8th Nov 06, 9:09 AM
"Commander Fabian" said a soldier. "Yes?" Replied Fabian. "we are stationed at all the key locations as requested, and ready to defend them. The Ground-to-Space Cannons have also been prepared for any surprise attacks we might encounter, but are not operating at 100%"..."I want them working at 200% if necesary" said Fabian. "yes Commander". The soldier then saluted Fabian, and left. "let them come...im ready for you" said fabian as he looked at the sky...
OOC: Rabid, they are supposed to be demons, right? so we are gonna be fighting demons....right?....even in the ground.....right?
8th Nov 06, 5:26 PM
As Doomrider stood at the helm of the Shadow a young tech approched his feet were heavy as if something was wrong with the ship.
"Sir there seems to be a problem with the cloak, the field generator seems to emit a low radiation em fields this seems to ruin the cloak." The tech said.
"That is normal the cloak isn't perfect just reroute the exhaust to an empty cargo hold and when we dont need the cloak anymore realease it." I responded heading for the main console "Intercom On. All crew this is your captain today we continue the struggle that is life. Today we are on a routine sweep of Sector 5C of the asteroid belt this may be a routine sweep but keep on your toes. When your not at your stations you are training or resting. We are at war with an enemy without number lets make them think twice about messing with the RIDERS OF DOOM!"
And without adeiu a great roar rang throughout the ship in anticipation of a battle they havn't seen and probably won't live through...
10th Nov 06, 4:44 AM
Malcom stared at the holopad which was around the same size as a billiard table. Where once it showed an empty void, except for a few green blips which represented allied vessels, Mars and its Moon and the Asteroid Belt, it now flowled with hundreds upon thousands of red dots, all swarming and diving in and out of formation, they were gathering a few thousand kilometers from the Clarke's position, and preparing for their first attack, which was why He had ordered his ship and the entire defence fleet up to combat alert.
"Report!" He yelled over the alarms.
"Sir, all ships en route to rally position, estimated we have around four hundred vessels supporting us, along with a few million troops planetside, all systems are working at 100%" Lindsay shouted back, over the din.
Suddenly an arm of the enemy fleet broke off and headed straight for Mars. "Weapons online! Target those ships!"
The Clarke pivoted and its MACs roared to life, spitting round after round of superheated metal at the ships. It took out a fair few of them, they drifted lifelessly through space, venting flames and atmosphere. However the remaining portion broke through the hail of fire and shot into the atmosphere of Mars.
"How many got through?" He shouted. "Over fifty vessels Sir! All of them class C troop carriers it seems, that means over two million enemies have landed planetside!"
"God help them..." He said "Get us back to the rally point but keep an eye on those bastards."
10th Nov 06, 3:07 PM
Fabian stood in the forward command post as he watched the sky turn crimson red. "Commander" said a soldier. "We have recieved reports from the William & Clarke II that nearly 50 class C troop carriers got through their defences, and that they are about to land aproximately 68 kilometers north of our current position".
"Whats the ETA?" Fabian asked. "2 hours, maybe less." said the soldier. "damn it....are the Ground-to-Space cannons ready?" asked Fabian. "Not yet-" "Well get on it, i want at least 20 of those ships destroyed before they make planetfall, do you understand?"
"YES SIR!" and with thatd, the soldier saluted and took his leave. Fabian then continued to look at the sky and ponder his situation. if he wanted to win this battle he had to act fast, for the enemy would have no mercy...
10th Nov 06, 7:13 PM
"Sir the William & Clarke is signaling all ships to a rally point shall we go?" asked the comm officer
"No. Look at the forces their fielding if this is their first assault then their not using alot of their assets. We keep in this area switch power to full on the sensors if you pick something larger then a destroyer activate the cloak and signal for a fraction of the fleet."
"*sigh* Yes sir."
"Sir we're picking up a small squadron of destroyers shall we engage them?"
"No. Activate the cloak and prepare for boarding action. I want to get in nice and close and disable those ships as quietly as possibe..."
10th Nov 06, 9:42 PM
Crimson Ghorsk stared at the sky for a long time, his helmet unattached to his suit. He pulled out his medication.
"Sir", said Sargeant Dmitry, the Intelligence officer of his forces. He saluted.
"At ease, Sargeant," replied Ghorsk in a calm, raspy voice. "What's the situation of the deamon invasion?"
"Well sir, a splinter forces are being taken ca of the daemon host has broken through the Arch Angels fleet. While the majority of them are in space, a sizeable force still has broken through, with more coming. Ghorsk sighed. He reattached his helmet, and looked back at the sky, slowly turning a dark red, like thick, fresh blood.
"Dmitry, send word to the other generals that I am securing a Nuke for the initial invasion wave. Make sure they know to get into the bunkers. Also, tell the men to resecure their Derma-suits and get into the trenches. It's time for a fight." He walked away with a smirk, even chuckling to the idea of killing these foul creatures by the thousands.
The troops ran for their posts, unslinging their rifles, and setting up their trenches and gun emplacements. Drop pods launched from a nearby base, sending Mechs, Shocktanks and all the other armour assets to each of the lines of defense of Ghrosk's forces. The time for blood is near.

The William & Clarke II fired its thruster's and it edged into formation. It floated in the frontline of the battlegroup along with a few other Arch Angels which were stationed at the first line of defense.
"Sir, Sensor sweeps from recon teams say that the enemy battlegroup massing just outside our fire range is around four-hundred vessels, most of them are frigate class so not much bother, but recon have also picked up signatures of several Destroyer-class and Battlecruiser-class, all positioned at the centre of the enemy fleet."
The Captain tapped in a few commands on the console and the holopod in front of him zoomed out, showing this section of the system. Mars, Earth and their Moon's floated placidly through space. Earth was surrounded by thousands of green dots, some orbiting, some making their way between the Moon the Earth its-self. The Homeguard. The moon was shaded red, information cycled next to it, showing the massive missile defence system spread across its surface, Mars with the millions of soldiers planetside and the small battlegroup floating between it's moons, then finally the huge massive of red which resebmled the enemy fleet.
"Lieutenant Lindsay! Send a burst signal to the Nuclear Mines we have in the same sector as the enemy fleet, lets give them a surprise they wont soon forget."
"Yes Sir, transmission sent!" She said, and moments later massive explosions blossomed in the distance, showing through the viewport which dominated the front of the Bridge. He eyed the holopod again and saw serveral holes in the enemy fleet where once a few hundred ship's resided.
"Sir! They're attacking!" He heard Jaggers shout. Indeed the massive red blog if enemies had surged forward, covering the ground between them and the defence fleet quickly.
"ALL FORCES FIRE ON MY COMMAND!" Malcom shouted over the comm. He watched as the ships surrounding the Clarke sprung to life, massive cannons sliding out of their bodies, huge missile racks lowering out o their hulls, all firmly trained on the enemy fleet speeding towards them.
"FIRE!" He shouted. The William and Clarke II shuddered as its MACs roared to life once again, along with the rest of the fleet. The enemy fleet answered with their own salvo, hungry for blood.
The quickly closing space between the two fleet's was filled with so much fire that it looked like a Solar Flare. The first of the Human rounds smashed into the enemy fleet, ships shattered and spun out of control, smashing into other ships and setting them alight. Suddenly a massive red bolt fired from the depths of the Deamon[/] fleet melting all of the ships in its m path then impacted on the [I]Cook, a heavily armoured Destroyer, which listed onto its side and started boiling, its armour flew off in chunks and the ship eventually crushed its-self, destroyed by its own massive weight.
"What the hell was that?!" Said Malcom, it fired again but missed the ship it was aimed for. The AI aboard the ship hummed to life. The vessel is a battlecruiser class vessel, this main projectile is its only weapon besides point defence however.
"Jaggers, take us into the enemy fleet, Lindsay, taget that vessel." and wit that, the William and Clarke II thundered forwards, guns blazing.

As the Ryoken held orbit over the Lunar surface, its crew waited for the impending attack order. Captain Higgins sat in his command chair waiting for the order to arrive, but it never did.
Frustrated he slammed his fists down on the chair's arms. "God dammit, when are we going to get the go-ahead to move out of this stinking orbit?! I would kill for the chance to rack up some kills for this vessel. But I can't......unless.... You there, ensign, yes you, start the drive thrust at a 35 degree angle, and radio command we are having engine problems and are projected course is toward the battle."

"cannons online"..."FIRE" and as Fabian gave the order, the GtS cannons gave every ounce of power they had and began to shower the skies with high powered plasma. the incoming enemy ships took the damage head-on, not caring for fabians attack. "commander" said a soldier. "yes?....whats the status?" Fabian replied. "The Demon ships are increasing their speed, and are changing their route."
"where are they landing now?" Fabian asked as he turned his head to face the radar. "8km west from our current position" said the soldier with a more scared tone of voice. "damn...Keep firing those cannons, we need to take as many of them out as we can before they reach us."
"SIR!, incoming transmission from Commander Crimson Ghorsk"
"put it on" said Fabian
-++Attention all Generals stationed in Mars, We have secured Nuclear warheads, and we will use them against the incoming enemy fleets. You are advised to take cover. That is all++-
"What?....but if they launch the nukes, they will hit us too....what should we do Commander?...."
"Send a message to commander Ghorsk and tell him to wait, that we will try to stop them....and if we should fail, he is free to bomb this whole sector off the map..."
OOC: my geography is a little messed up so i dunno how far 8 km is and if a nuke can destroy that much....

Ghorsk patiently waited inside his bunker for any special fighting going on. Soon he heard a bleep in his helmet.
WARNING. URGENT MESSAGE DIRECTED TO CRIMSON GHROSK. VERIFY ACCEPTANCE TO OPEN COMMUNICATION.
Ghorsk thought yes. A small amount of white noise was heard.
" This is Commander Fabian of the Mars Ground Forces." said a voice over the comm. "I suggest you hold on those nuclear warheads for the moment. Our damn gunsare intertwined with these foul beings, and the engagement is fierce. Once we clear the area or fail at our attempts to support Mars, you have the go to destory as much as you'd like."
"Unfortuneatley," replied Ghorsk. "There is a problem. One warhead that was secured has launched from unknown reasons. It's heading straight toward your position, Commander." He coughed. "There is no way we can stop it at its speed right now. For the moment, we have hackers trying to communicate with the system. The damn deamons must have done it. I'm sorry. Ghorsk out."
Suddenly, Ghorsk heard a faint whistle surrounding him. His plasma guard looked around, waiting for anything to come.
"Sir", said a plasma guard. I'm detecting unknown heat signatures."
"So do I", said Ghorsk. "Looks like we have a little surprise made fo us. Ready your guns men!" The guards nodded and formed a shield around Ghorsk.

Captain Hood listened to the reports filtering in from the impending battle on Mars and wondered how many thousands of poor souls will be taken by these twisted beings. He braced himself as the William & Clarke II slammed into an enemy frigate, crumpling its hull and sending it spiraling out of control.
"Sir, we'l be within firing range of the enemy cruiser in 15 seconds!" Lindsay yelled over the screaming alarms.
"Good, are all the cannons charged?" Hood answered, staring out the viewport. "Sir, all weapons are at 100%, Sir!" He heard the reply.
"Fire on my mark, then fire emergency thrusters to dodge their return fire. Understood?"He spoke to both Jaggers and Lindsay "Yes Sir!" They shouted back in unison.
The Clarke thundered through the cloud of enemy vessels, pulse lasers raking its hull, its shields flaring but barely holding. Slowly the black looming mass of the enemy cruiser came into view, it was roughly the same size as the Clarke, but smaller, less armoured, a section of it was burning and twisted, sections of its under-skeleton were showing through, one of the nukes had scored and almost direct hit.
"Bring us around to the damaged side of the vessel, stike them where they're weak." He said. "Sir! Shields are down, we'r out of the main fleet's line of fire because the cruiser is blocking most of it but we wont be for much longer. Decks 17 throguh 32 have been destroyed." He heard on of his officers say.
"De-pressurise all non-essential decks, re-route half of the engine charge to shields, and charge the ION engine. Steady, 3, 2, 1, MARK!"
The four MACs unleashed their payloads into the enemy cruiser, shattering its internal structure and destroying it from the inside. One of the bolts had obviously hit a reactor of some sort because a huge plume of flame shot out of the side of the cruiser, it slowly listed onto its side, its lights dying. Dead in space.
"Jaggers, get us the hell outta here!" Hood yelled, eyesing four destroyers closing in on them.
A huge blue jet shot out the back of the Clarke, the ION drive launched the ship through the attacking vessels and back into the orbit of Mars, leaving a bright blue streak behind it.
"Recharge all systems, tell all vessels to pull back to Mars orbit. We'r not done yet."

OOC: Capytan, i dont have an archangel.....yet....im actually on the surface of mars...battling the few demon ships that made it through.......

Ok. I fixed it now to fit the story. Sorry. :p

As "The Shadow" made its swoop the crew were ready; combat teams were at the teleporters waiting for their orders. Gunnery officers were prepping weapon systems for the inevitable barrage. Then the lights went green and the battle commenced.
"This is your captain, Riders you will be teleported to either the bridge of your assigned ship or the core area if you are at the bridge cut all communications and hold untill the 2nd group is done. For the 2nd group you get the important job of detonating the ships cores. When all objectives are met activate your beacons and pray to god you get out in time." With that out of the way Doomrider prepped his exo-suit and looked up just in time to be materialized on the bridge of the flagship of the squadron. Three large bull-like deamons stood up only to be immediatly cut down by a hellstorm of pulse rifle fire. Then the captain of this filthy deamon-ridden ship dug his claws into a nearby Rider lifted him and threw him across the bridge into an imp crushing it an instant. Eyes aflame with righteous rage Doomrider unsheathed his blade and locked the fiend in a battle that made all on the bridge look on in awe. As blades flicked around the room meeting armored hide and diamond sharp claws, a plan developed in the mind of Doomrider and with cunning resolve he put his plan into action. As the foul monstrosity attacked he ducked and shoved his blade underneath a scale and broke it free, only to be rewarded with a smash across the face. The struggle continued with Doomrider gaining the upper hand as more and more scales fell off revealing a soft under tissue which a blade or better yet a plasma cannon can damage. And with that thought in mind he sent the beast away with a powerfulslash forcing it back and then it realized its mistake and was roasted to a crisp with a burst from a plasma cannon.
The battle for the bridge continued but with a demoralized enemy who they were dommed.
"This is the bridge of destroyer #4 it is all clear in here. Status report."
"Destroyers #1, 3, and 5 are well under way to being destroyed we lost contact with 2 and your core squad has been lost. #6 is space dust."
"Take out the sensors on #2 then proceed to destroy the ship. And on another note belay destruction of the other ships im setting up a distress beacon to try and split of some of that fleet."

OOC: Doomrider, while your portrayal of the enemy is sound, just wanted to clear one of two things up. The universe/dimension these beings came from is like a mirror of our own, except horribly twisted beyond comprehension (or however you spell it), it is quite possible that these creatures are even mirrors of the very people trying to kill them, but so far the story has not progressed that far yet. Try to imagine the zombie dudes from 'Dawn of the Dead' except even more twisted, un-naturally fast and lethally insane.
IC: The William & Clarke II watched the battle from a distance, the Mars-Guard was engaged in furious combat with the enemy, hurling energy and fire at with without relent, but they kept coming and coming but eventually, their numbers began to dwindle.
"Sir, only forty enemy vessel's remain, all frigate class like the rest of this first wave, apart form those few destroyers and that cruiser. Our fleet us pulling back and re-grouping around our position. Sir, orders?" An officer said.
It didnt make sense, why were they retreating? How did they manage to destroy them so easily with so few casualties? Then it struck him.
"Officer, deep sweep the surrounding area, if there is ANYTHING, tell me now."
A couple of moment passed and the fleet slowly arranged themselves in an arc around the Clarke. "Sir! We have multiple contact coming in hot! Sensors read over five thousand vessel's inbound on attack vectors!" The officer shouted back.
"Show me." Hood said, eyeing the holopod. The small holograms on it zoomed out and showed the area surrounding Mars once again. Red dots swarmed across the void toawrds Mars, splitting into two groups, one heading towards the planet and other towards the small battlecluster. The readout of the ships heading towards Mars came through, showing that almost all of them were Carriers or Dropships, the Carriers supporting over five thousand troups each. The ships heading towards the battlecluster conistsed largely of Destroyers and even a few more cruisers.
Hood opened a link too the rest of the fleet. "It is most likely that if we maintain this position, we will be wiped out by their forst salvo, I am hereby ordering all ships to pull back to the Lunar-Defence-Grid. All Carriers are to land on Mars and pick up all Ally forces and civilians before full retreat!" He then switched the comm to commander Fabian and the other commanders planetside.
"Commander Fabian, Mars has been overrun and I have ordered a full retreat back to the Lunar-Defence-Grid. I will bring the Clarke and several Carriers down to extact your troops and all other's on Mars. Be ready when we arrive. ETA half an hour. Hood out."
Malcom starede at the massive red blotch spiraling towards them, wondering if half an hour would be enough.

As Fabian Stared at the raging battle at hand, a soldier came to him and said: "Commander, incoming transmition from the William & Clarke II"
"Put it through"
-++Commander Fabian, Mars has been overrun and I have ordered a full retreat back to the Lunar-Defence-Grid. I will bring the Clarke and several Carriers down to extact your troops and all other's on Mars. Be ready when we arrive. ETA half an hour. Hood out.++-
"damn it....tell commander Ghorsk he is free to bomb this planet....it won't matter anyway. And Patch me through to my troops."
"Yes commander" replied the soldier. Fabian then faced the a huge screen in front of him and began saying:
Men, The enemy has reached us to this planet and is ready to kill us with no mercy. But you WILL NOT LOSE FAITH, for we are not beaten yet! the odds are against us and in this moment, there is nothing we can do but to retreat back to the Lunar-Defence-Grid. The William and Clarke II and its fleet will come in less than an hour and extract you all, but until then, you will not give one step back in retreat. We are the 236th Earth Military Division! and today we make ourselves proud of our deeds by holding the line until extraction. Good luck to you all. Fabian out.
"get our ships ready"
"but sir, our ships are not combat made..."
"The Clarke will need all the help it can get..."

As the Ryoken slowly drifted away from the Lunar Defense Grid Terry stood on the bridge sorting through the screams and chaos of the battle. It was music to his ears, the luminus explosion in the distance coupled with the high pitch whine of reacters going critical, ships being ripped apart, he loved.
Unfortunately he had came up with his plan to join the battle to late as all human forces were in retreat. Cursing the ship for its slow engines.
Just then he intercepted a transmission from the William & Clarke II, "Attention all ships, Mars is lost, repeat Mars is lost to the enemy. Pull back to the Lunar Defense Grid."
"Damnit all!" shouted Terry as he slammed his fists down on the comm station. Grunting he told a nearby ensign to tell the crew to head back to the Moon.

Ghorsk aimed his assault rifle at the door, as well as his guard. Banging and screams along with the whistle were heard behind it. Shots were being fired outside, with screams and explosions happening all over the place. Ghorsk activated his scanner.
Nothing. Nothing at all. All was silent. Soon, however, the deamons burst through the door, with guns and unholy fire. The plasma ripped them apart. They kept on coming through, wave by wave. Soon, the doorway was piled high with the burning carcasses of the foul creatures. "Troops, move out!" screamed Ghorsk. "Pursue the source of these hell-carnates." Ghorsk moved out along with his guard, sweeping the area as they went, killing any living daemons in sight. Soon , they found some kind of doorway, with fire and screams of hell spewing out of it. All fired into the portal. Hundreds of bolts blasted through the door, denting it every time a wave was punctured to it. Soon, Ghorsk fired his artillery gun and blew the gun into Oblivion. The door soon sucked all the daemons into its dimension, and soon taking itself out.
"Attention all ships, Mars is lost, repeat Mars is lost to the enemy. Pull back to the Lunar Defense Grid."
Ghorsk was relieved about this, and finally put the go on the launch of the second nuclear weapon. He announced to the other generals about his plan.
Screaming. People running. A whole world of pain, madness, and death. Always death. It had always been like that, ever since the demons came.
Shuddering, Talon awoke. The dream again.

OOC: Back now.
IC: Malcom looked around at his officers, they were strained but this was what they lived for, the feeling of battle coursing through their veins, the adrenalin, everything about it.
"Officer, give me a head's up on what's happening." He said.
"Sir, the battlecluster is making its way back to the Lunar Defence Grid along with the other Arch Angels stationed here, the one's already there are readying for the assault. The Lunar Defence System is coming online and the main cannon's will he operational in a few hours. The forces planetside are ready for evac and we are beginning our decent now."
"Good good" The Captain said, watching as the viewport become tinged with orange and yellow as the massive ship decended into Mars' atmosphere along with several other carriers, reading themselves to pick up the forces.
"Be sure to pick up Commander Fabian and Crimson Ghorsk, Ill be waiting for them in the hangar when they get aboard, alert them that their troops will be loaded throughout the carriers and reunited on our was to the Lunar Defence Grid." He said, before getting up and making his way towards the massive hangars of the William & Clarke II.
