View Full Version : [1.2 Balance] German Veterancies

I think almost everyone thinks support team and infantry veterancy upgrades are too costly and useless.
What if these two costed munitions instead of fuel. Because it would make sence after all, extra training consumes munitions and supplies rather than fuel.
Vechile and Tank veterancies would stay the same as they are now.
Umm I use the support team upgrades all the time. I agree that the ifnantry upgrades don't seem all that useful, but I've never combat tested so I can't offer a solid opinion.
Making them cost munitions might be going a little far. A slight reduction in fuel cost should be plenty.
And this thread belongs in the Balance forum really.

I agree the first support team upgrade is great, but that's it.
You are right this thread should be moved to balance forum.
I only use the Armoured upgrade (if I ever use them).
I think the worst upgrade is the light vehicles upgrade. Woohoo my m/cycle/puma can take 15% more hits. I've used tank and WS team upgrades, heard of infantry upgrades being used but I've never heard of any case where light vehicle upgrades were used. Understandable, since it would only benefit two units.

You are forgetting the halftruck :) Sure it's still useless veterancy. The first veterancy in infantry is neat if you have tons of volksgranadiers or such, but it still costs too much fuel in 1v1.

My suggestion would be to have the first tier veterancies for all four types only cost manpower. Then the second tier of veterancies should cost manpower and munitions, then the final tier manpower, munitions, and fuel. In order to balance this, it might be worth making the building itself more expensive.
The main reason the veterancies don't get used much is because fuel is such a precious resource that it's hard to justify spending that much fuel on veterancies, when you could instead spend it on more tanks.
I suppose an alternative would be to make it so the infantry ranks cost manpower only, the crew ranks cost mp and muntions and the AC/armor ranks cost mp and fuel.
It definintely needs something though. The krampfthingy hardly ever sees action in 1v1 because players simply cannot afford to spend the fuel on anything other than units and buildings.

random note : I see elite upgrades for inf as a *must* for tank-hunting against Shermans.

I agree. Something needs to be done. I never get to build up a Kampkraftcenter if I'm playing against an opponent who is good and I can't dominate him totally. Even the building costs too much oil for me to get ever built. The upgrades do cost more than they're worth of IMO.
Eventhough Relic tries not to mirror stuff between the two sides I'd still rather like them to get upgraded like the Allies, by actual experience instead of MP and fuel. :D

So what is it like 700 manpower and some 120 fuel for grenadiers that still lose 1-2 members of squad per 6s of sherman fire AND cost 150 munitoins to boot? :0
Why not spend that on 2.5 stugs which will rape an ungunned sherman silly.
