This afternoon I played an 18-minute game on St. Hilaire in which my ally and I OWNED. I mean, we [OWNED] the enemy. I came out with 9 losses, he came out with 17, and our enemies came out with 60-70 each. Here's what happened:
In the starting room, the enemies were levels 3 and 5, both with about 120 games played. I've played about 40, and my ally had played about 10-15. So, it looked as if it wasn't super fairly-matched. It was high resources, and I started by capping points with pioneers and making a WQ. I then made an MG squad and garrisoned the warehouse on my side of the low-yield fuel point. My ally quickly capped the point with pio's and I moved my MG squad into the enemy's warehouse. I had a volks squad out at this time. I was seeing surprisingly little activity, but soon my enemy brought several squads of engineers up towards the fuel point. My MG massacred them. It kind of went downhill from here for our opponents. I proceeded to garrison a couple buildings with MGs that held off a bunch of rifles and airborne. Meanwhile, I teched to sturm armory and started to annihilate their OP's with StuG fire. Since my ally and I had taken so many resource points, placed OP's, and it was set to high resources, the fuel was just flowing in. I teched to Battle Stage and brought out an Ostwind. Game over. Before, the rifles were being badly beaten by the Volks, MG's, and StuGs, but at this point they just got [owned]. Pretty soon my ally and I were rolling into the enemy base with a couple ostwinds, some StuGs, a panther, and a couple P4's. I wish I had saved a replay now. Do you guys think that this rifle spam was so easily countered because I handled it correctly or because my opponents played badly? I was vastly surprised at how easily and quickly we won.
