View Full Version : Vespid border on useless as an ealry detector.
Please Please Please next patch make stealth suits detectors and take it away from vespid. Just had a 4v4 game vs the comp. Must have hade a few tau enemys (2 i think), within the first 2-3 minutes i had probably 6 reinforced stealth suits in my base. Only detector unit i got is the vespid, So i build the 300 req 50 power piece of rubbish only to watch it find the stealth suits then be shreded by the 2 squads of fire warriors sitting behind the stealth suits. The vespid lasted all of about 3 sec. How are tau meant to function against early stealth with this altogether crap unit (excluding the one off vespid rush) as other than the rush, there doesnt seem to be any use at all for it in general combat. Its just way to weak. I hope something gets done to the stealth detection a patch, as right now tau seem screwed until tier 2, and even then the stealth detection aint great.

Stealth suits do pathetic damage. You should've jumped that vespid on the firewarriors. Or even better, don't build vespids period. Just get Commander and Firewarriors.
Other races' infiltration come later. Only Tau have a stealth unit right off the bat, and it's a really weak one.
Its really weak yes. But 18 of them in your base shooting after they get the damage upgrade does add up to something you cant ignore.

Shinova, think before you post, Yob has a point in the sense that Vespid are a very fragile and expensive early detector unit. However they are not useless, they have excellent disruption(sonic boom) and they do massive damage to buildings.
Another thing Shinova what about eldar stealth, rangers can be deadly to Tau if they are left to undermine your entire army until tier 2. However saying that vespid are useless even in their role as detectors is wrong, they are highly mobile and can thus get where you need them faster than pathfinders could(without even using their jump ability) Also I have no idea why you'd throw them into combat if you want to use them as detectors, just use the stand ground stance so they don't go charging into combat and you can just put them where they are needed for stealth detection.

Gosh, those stealth suits might even blow up a building in a few hours of concentrated fire.

You should follow your own advice. I never said that Vespids were weak. I think they're awesome for the role they're designed for.
