View Full Version : [WIP] Ultra Massive Map (no name yet)

Hello guys, I'm currently interested in creating a massive map, the thing I don't like in CoH maps is its too small, even the large ones. I created a map using the largest area, initially I just added the 6p starting points for testing puposes. My problem is even with just 2p, me vs the CPU, panning the maps up and down is slowing the game, the units slows down quite abit specially mid to end game. :bored: I'm using 3800+ X2, 1.5 GB memory, and 7800GT. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

The massive map would suck up a hella lotta RAM. GL lol. But ive noticed a somewhat better framerate from custom maps even with alot of shit on screen.

your map must me totally optimized.
read the wiki for more information (link is easy to find in the forum)

Thank you for the feedback, I'll research more on how to optimize the map. But as per my initial testing, the whole thing slows down mid-late game, even with only 2p (me vs CPU), even without the map customization, no items/terrain changes whatsoever, just the default map (plane ground). Do you think upgrading my hardware will make a difference? During my test, memory was not that high I think, maybe the bottleneck is the CPU...

Before you open a map go to one of the menues at the top, one of them has Budget and set that to 64mb. Then it'll run faster.
