Does anyone else think they should cost munitions to fire?
i just spent 2 hours with a buddy trying to combat and eventually win against 2 allied players who both went infantry.
They had over 10 howitzers on the field, ontop of rangers out the wazoo.
And to top it all off, they just camped.
It was all good until about 30 into the game when they got up their first howitzer, then it was just an hour 30 of just constant bombardment. They never came on the offense, merely camped.
I think they should cost some sort of munition, everything axis does
I believe the idea is if they can hold you off while being down 10 howitzers (= 4500 manpower and 750 fuel) you are supposed to lose. Its only a problem on vire river.

If you're not playing on Vire, howitzers are really not THAT good. Having 10 howitzers means that they have hardly any troops. And howitzers have difficulty attacking moving targets. I played against an enemy on Rails and Metal today who had something like 3 howitzers and rebuilt them several times. They didn't do much damage to me (took out a couple AT guns and engineers, had to reinforce some squads), but my Stuka was working much better (and could bomb them).

depending. on a 2v2 howies and recon run is really good. on bridge maps. so lyon especially is where howies rule. either blow the briges or set up and insane defense with wire sand and ttraps. on anyother map 1 or none. because the dont do much as they are so open on all sides and cant shoot short range. but on bridge maps 4 or 5 is good. just have 1 or tanks and all buildings built. and if u are able to keep the axis at bay for a long time multiple tank depots are good incase the do get past first move probably would be to flank the howies at which the tank(s) can come from behind

Yeah we were on Lyon (4) and they had the allies were on the north side, where they had all those nice little nooks of ruined homes that they could put a howie in making it almost impossible to come through exacept one entrance which they mined the hell out of.
my walking stukas X 6 did a helluva lota damage taking out the close ones, but they were too much of an investment to rush and get howied.
But see what i dont get is that they held half the map, like us.but seemed to have so much more stuff. I mean, we attacked and attacked but they jsut kept being campers with rangers. Luckily i caught them once with their pants down (rangers clumped up in range of my 6 walking stukas) and killed 90% of them. As soon as i did that we rushed our 1 tiger ace, 2 tigers and all the storm troppers only to get caught up in the damn craters the howitzers produced ultimatly getting halfway in and getting owned.
And they were nubs about it too, everytime the bridge was repaired they rushed demos and blew it. its like they knew they couldn't hold us off.
Thats why i think howitzers should cost munitions to use. Because even though its fake, it still pissed me off and gave me a mild case of shell shock.

I think howitzers are fine. For their high cost, and late availability, they really aren't that long.
Very few games last more than 30-40 minutes.

10 howies and you're complaining about them. you DESERVE to lose. This is the same sort of argument people make about losing their l33t tanks....you deserve to lose them when you go all rambo and shit and send them into base 1 by 1 with no anti-inf support.

I think howitzers are a little bit overpowered.
But i think the solution is to increase their cooldown time, and to decrease their range.
Cooldown now is 60sec i think. Basically, by the time the bombardment is done, they'll be ready to fire again. Try a cooldown of 90sec.
Right now their range is really too extreme. Shorten it a little

Yeah, because *infantry* company is currently so massively over-powered.....
The only times where the howitzer is too strong is on maps like Vire, which is a map problem, not a howitzer problem.
infantry is the least utilized doc by allied players i think. if they go to mass howi and rangers, then forget the axis tanks (especially on lyon which is an urban map). all you need is lvl3 knight cross holders with pioneers (mine detector). they will killemall.
