Alrighty so, like the title states I've been lucky enough to be 17 years old and get a Make-a-Wish from the Make-a-Wish foundation. Sadly to say I have cancer... Anyways my wish is going to be a shopping spree at the largest games workshop in the United States (not sure which that is though)

What would you suggest I pick up in said shopping spree? I play Eldar now and am waiting for the new Harlequin models. (They are to be released when?) But I am pretty sure I have around $7000-$10,000. What would you pick up in this case?

In a word: Everything.

Harlequins come out some time in April, though the exact date escapes me. If you wait until then it may be worth picking a number of the blisters since I believe they're supposed to be splash releases with the boxed set being the only persistant product they'll offer. This assumes I know what a splash release really is though and that I've got my information right.

That said: Buy everything. If you're an Eldar player and have no interest in starting another army you might as well buy everything that even remotely piques your interest. Of course don't forget to buy plenty of glue, paint, and green stuff to go with all those models. :p

Good luck to you in everything.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

There's enough money there to get everything in the range several times over. You'd probably clean out their entire Eldar stock! If you spend all that on the Eldar and make sure you get a decent helping of everything you'll have an awesome collection and be able to field just about any army configuration. If you're open to suggestion, and I can understand if you're not, you could easily put together decent armies for several races.

Whatever you opt for, make sure you have a great time.

Also remember to pick up lots of Army Cases, mega paint sets, some battle forces, White Dwarf subscriptions, Books, Imperial Armour Books, the lot.

May be you could even get the staff there to help paint the army.

I am completely open to suggestions, I'm giving $1,000 to my friends Grey Knight army, the rest is for me to do.. pretty much whatever the hell I want to with lol. That is quite alot of money, I am sure I could get very creative with it. Spend a grand on accesories (paint, green stuff, glue, etc..) then the rest on armys. I'm not too interested in Space Marines, they are cool, but way over played. I have a Chaos army, I am working on my Eldar, I'm interested in harlequins, hmmm damn I wish they were coming out this month lol.

Well guys, give me some army lists and I will buy the boxs, show them unaccembled, then primed at the end of april. I may also do some contests with them such as ship out sections of the army, then the best painted section, get the rest of the army, etc... I'll let my mind run wild lol.

Imperial Guard and the Tyranids would be fun armies to spend great wads of cash on thanks to their typically insane model count coupled with lots of fun big stuff like IG tanks and Tyranid Monsterous Creatures. I'd say after you buy what you feel is enough for Eldar, just take your time and browse the store to see what other army/armies really catch your eye and then buy 'em up.

As a side note I think it's quite nice of you to give your friend $1,000 towards his GK army. They can be a really expensive army to run and I'm sure that money will go a long way.

Have fun with it, that's what it's all there for. :)

Try and get some forgeworld stuff as well maybe, as for you money is not the issue and some of thier stuff is just so cool!

Dark Watcher
9th Mar 07, 9:13 AM
Forgeworld stuff won't be available in the store, though

Arsenalc08
9th Mar 07, 9:40 AM
I would, but like Dark Watcher said I am stuck using my money on stuff within the store.

Dark Watcher
9th Mar 07, 9:59 AM
As i said, with the amount of stuff you can get you'll need many figure cases.

There should be an in-store order point that you could use however

First sorry to hear about your condition.

Everyone above pretty much said everything. ON the forgeworld stuff there are 4 stores in the US that stock forgeworld in the store. I'm not sure where your located but you or someone might want to contact the store to see if they can get the stuff in the store for your visit. Companies will sometimes bend over backwards to do special things for the Make A Wish foundation.

Sorry to hear that you've got cancer. I feel for you. Someone close to me has it as well.

You seem to have enough money for a few conversions, don't you? ;) Maybe after spending the money on models, modelling tools, GS, books etc, you could spend the remaining cash on, well conversion materials. I think that a mixture of a Dire Avenger Exarch and an Autarch with Power Sword could make an excellent Autarch. Or you could attach Guardians or whatever Aspect Warriors you like to your troop transports to make it look like they're jumping out. The options are pretty much limitless. That is if you're good at that kind of stuff. ;)

A couple of the giant Cities of Death boxes which you could then use to make the BIGGEST BUILDING IN THE WORLD, might be pretty cool if you have money to burn. Mainly though, don't forget scenery, since the more you have, the wider variety of battlefields you'll get.

Also, if you can get to one that supplies FW stuff, it would simply be inexcusable to not buy a Revenant Titan. Inexcusable I say!

Either way, I'm sure it'll be a blast, so have fun (and drop by P&M to show us the results :))

Pretty much agree with Apok.

Would be shame to spend so much money and have just a regular table to play on.

Now getting a huge army and a huge board.... muhahahahahah.

Glad you're getting your wish, but sorry it's because of your health condition. Hang in there.

Perhaps the shop would let you buy one of their gaming tables? That would be pretty cool, then you'd have a nice 4x8 ready to go.

9th Mar 07, 1:18 PM
Usually Make-a-Wish finds a way to make it "even more special" maybe they'll throwin in a gaming board, though I am going to convert an old thing we have in our garage to hold our 4x8 race car track we'll just box up the track and start working on that.

Thanks for the great ideas guys! It'll be a blast! Maybe they'll even through in some Harlequin?! =D That'd make my day!

and if you ever un out of things to do with your Eldar army, why not just start a completely new one? ($7000-$10000 is something every uni/colledge student dream about)

Arsenalc08

I really wanted to start a dark eldar army before I started my Eldar, but so far in battle my Eldar have toppled a well known Grey Knight army in my town my first time using them so I am going to be putting ALOT into them. But I also will probably order some Dark Eldar and some old Harlequin.

Are you allowed to hire help to go with that insane amount of models?!

10th Mar 07, 12:21 PM
Urm, with all your wonderfully glorious spending power, does the till in the store have enough room to support 100s of boxes?

Here's an idea: anything you've ever wanted in a Games Workshop, buy. Any box set that has made you say "I'd love to paint one of those" buy. Anything that has made you go "ooo, they look nice" buy. Anything...anything at all that's grabbed your attention

And then some

11th Mar 07, 5:29 AM
Well there's a lot of people basically saying "Go nuts", and damn if I don't agree! Hell, get the supplies to start your own gaming club, why not? Also... If it's the largest shop, they may have specialist games. What's an army worth without a fleet to transport it, right?

Dude if it is at all possible you should see if someone can get in contact with the guys from 'Eavy Metal to do up some of your models for you.

It would be:
1) Friggin sweet for you
2) Friggin sweet for them

At this very moment my 'make a wish' is that you get a massive army and then get all healthy.

Shinsei
11th Mar 07, 4:34 PM
It's great they're doing this for you. Go nuts in the store and grab whatever you like. Hopefully they'll have enough ;). As mentioned, maybe you can get someone really good, or a 'eavy metal member to paint up a fig or 2 for your army.

Best of luck to your health.

12th Mar 07, 1:29 AM
lol how would you maint all the modles they have instore, so many...

Arsenalc08
12th Mar 07, 6:11 PM
Yeah it would be AWESOME to get some of the guys from 'Eavy metal to do some models for me, maybe just my Eldar's Autarch or my Harlequin considering that's when I would be going, it would be the release day of the Harlequin, so anyone in the Los Angelas area don't be hoping for Harlequins lol I'm buyin em out!

If they take you to the Los Angeles Battle Bunker you should be able to get forgeworld stuff there as well. They use to have it in stock since I bought some there.

sorry to hear about your illness dude, but its really cool that youll be getting a cool wish liek that. I would suggest you phone ahead to whatever store youll be going to and make sure they have plenty of whatever you want. And if you get to travel anywhere to go to the shop Id say go to the Baltimore Maryland store, the Baltimore Battlebunker is one of the biggest US stores, and if you call ahead you will be able to make sure they have some cool Forgeworld models available in stock as well. Def make sure to pick up a Revenant Titan and a Scorpion tank :)

As for what to get with that kind of cashage, get 3-4 Battleforces, a bunch of tanks, and a bunch of Apsect warrior boxes. then load up on everything they got. Wraithlords, Warwalkers. OH, and make sure to try and get a ForgeWorld Avatar. Its a great addition to an eldar army.

How about this...bribe the golden daemon guys to let you win the slayer sword, or just buy the slayer sword. Or just buy Games Day.
Better, buy Games Workshop, it can't be too much over your budget...i think.

Best of luck to you. I hope you have many, many years of miniature painting ahead of you. Again, best of luck.
