This isnt so much of a "HELP ME PLZ!!!" topic as wanting to see if any one else had similar problems, and alerting relic to a problem. Both me, and 2 other friends have experenced problems with changing resolutions in the homeworld 2 demo. Though the screen size changes, it will run off the screen. 2 of us are using LCD monitors, the other CRT. I tried doing my monitor's auto adjust which usually fixes up said problems, but this time ended up making it worse. I ended up having to manually change the screen physical sizes and positions in my monitors menu to try to get as much of it on the screen as I could. I was using the 1280 x 900 something (isnt that a kindd of od res? I usually use 1280 x 1024 o_O) and my other friend was using 1600 x 1200. Not sure on the other.

So any one else have similar problems?

Have you updated your drivers? Nvidia's latest version is 45.23

1280x960 is a 4:3 ratio resolution (like 800x600, 1024x768 and 1600x1200). Homeworld 2's textures work best in 4:3 ratio screen resolutions.

If you want to use an alternate resolution, see the readme file for instructions.

As for screen adjustments, once you adjust your screen once for that resolution, it should keep it at that forever.

I'm using a 128 MB Radion 9800 pro, one of my friends is using the 256 MB Radeon 9800 pro, my other friend is using a 256 MB GeForce FX 5600 Ultra, we all had problems. Ironically, my friend with a GeForce 2 didnt have any at all. I just updated my video and sound drivers a week or so ago, and I just updated windows XP today.

I didnt see this forum before, thank you for moving my topic.

I had problems as well. Happens everytime I use a resolution and refresh rate I've not used before.

I tried changing it to 1280 x 1024 as the readme said, but nothing happened.

Edit: Now it seems to be working, though the graphics and text look a bit blocky. I remember having a similar problem with Civ III.

What do you mean nothing happened? The game didn't start?

I edited my post. I closed it out and tried it again and every thing was the right size, but the graphics are now more blocky unless I have a terrible memory. It is most noticable with text.

Edit: I just took a screen shot, but when pasting into Photoshop, the text and everything looked like it should.

Gyokuran, what's the native resolution of your LCD monitor?

1280 x 1024 (using the switches in the README) works fine on my LCD. If if looks stretched on your LCD, but a screenshot looks fine in photoshop you're like not setting it to 1280 x 1024 properly. The stretched look is because most 17" LCDs are 5:4 (1280x1024) aspect ratio intead of the more common 4:3 (1280x960) and stretch the image so it fits.

Maybe it's the LCD monitor itself? Could be a crabby brand.

I'm on 1024x768, it seems fine. Would lowering res to 1024 help?

I have a 19" LCD made by NEC, I tried 1024 x 768 in the menu screen, but not in the game its self. I'll try that.

Edit: My monitor's native res is 1280 x 1024

it's probably looking "chunky" because HW2 doesn't support that resolution (like pop said)... see the readme.txt for more info.
