View Full Version : MP Issue - Network Unavailable?

Whenever I attempt to play MP I get a message "network unavailable". It even happens when I try to connect in Gamespy. I can get in just fine to the Gamespy lobby....but then "network unavailable" when I try to join.

No...no router...no firewall.

Any advice?

What version of DirectX are you using, and what is your ISP?

Adelphia.

I'm not sure if HW2 will log the error, but can you try to join a game, then post the contents of your \homeworld2 demo\bin\release\hw2.log file please?

Do you connect directly to the internet?

Yes, ... I connect directly... I've done this everything (firewall + router) disabled...and combinations of ports added, HW2demo.exe permitted..etc...etc.

Thanks for the help by the way.

Do you use some kind of dialer software to connect to adelphia that's not built into Windows? What other programs do you have running?

Nope.

Straight cable connection.

Don't sweat this issue for now...I just did some connectivity tests and I am getting some packet loss.

IF that's the issue (I won't know until they fix it) then my only issue would be that HW2 is hyper-sensitive to it as compared to other games...we'll see.

Yeah, and there's another with the same problem as well.

Do you guys have LANs in addition to your outside network connection?

hey, I am having the same problem too, and I have Lan set up in mine, I had a router but long diconnected it since it was blown from a surge, disabled my fire wall also. I will connect to gamespy all the way up too when i click either host or join, then it wont work.
Any help is appreciated, thanks
