fuck this game fuckin rocks!! it takes everything that made homeworld great and builds upon those foundations.....the new UI is awesome [at least n00bz cant complain...if they do tell em play homeworld 1 first], the graphics are spectacular and the new ships designs totally kickass! I got goosebumps when that huge cruiser hyper jumped in to help the mothership in the second mission.....damn i hope i get to play with one of those! I just want to commend relic on doing such a great job......hopefully homeworld 2 will get the recognition it deserves!

All in all there is only one thing that concerns me......at the end of each mission you automatically hyperspace to the next level. In homeworld 1 you chose when to hyperspace, thus giving you an oppurtunity to collect all the resources that were left on a map. Given the cumulative nature of the resource and unit system, i am very concerned about the absence of this feature. I did notice at the end of mission 2 that there was a message "resources automatically collected"....but im not sure whether that is referring to resources on the map or to the automatic loading of all the ships on to the mothership. Can any1 lay me worries to rest?

Oh and another thing i noticed......there doesnt seem to be as many formations available to you......or maybe i wasnt looking in the right place?

-Spoilers about level 2-
about the resources: in the second mission they need to jump fast or the main vaygr fleet jumps in and will atack hiigara, now they jump as soon as possible to draw the fleet away from hiigara.

about the formations: no idea :), I am still experimenting with what they do but I got no idea at the moment

There are formations availible F5-F8, I believe...
But those are battle group formations....

To control the placement of capital ships and fighter in a group or something... It's meant for bigger squadrons with multiple kinds of units...

There's a cruiser in lvl2? I thought it was just a bunch of frigates.

Yeah, and did you see Captain Soban's portrait? It's the guy in the center of the original HW2 "poster" art! :)

Ouch calm down tagar. Patience will get you somwhere, anger will get you nowhere. I saw no cruiser in the SP levels. Biggest thing I saw was the Vaygr carrier (Which was very pretty going BOOM).

The 'cruiser' is just a tarted up marine frigate...

The game is fantastic and the new ship designs are great, and the explosions are great! But no sphere formation?

I did like taking out the engines on the carrier to stop it from running :-).

And I did manage to run it once I turned most of the graphic effects off. Darn must get new PC.

Do you people have NLIPS on or off. I have them off but I often need TO on to see my fighters cause they so small with NLIPS off! Hehe. But it is better that you can choose to have it on or off.

Yeah, Captain Sobans ship isn't a Cruiser, too small, it's more or less a Marine frigate.

I believe there was a vaygr cruiser (or two?) that showed up to attack the ms at the end of the first mission... was after you loose control though.

Should point out that if I recall correctly, at the end of mission two it blacks out for a little while, and then fades back in with the message that all resources have been collected.. then goes letterbox for the jump. Docking of fighters occurs in this part as well.

Also, in the first mission, it was kinda funny seeing the multitudes of bombers and interceptors I built still trying to dock with M2 when she jumped core-bound... and I still had them all in mission 2. A bit of a fluke, I suspect.

I saw destroyers hyper in as the MS hypered out at the end of Mission 1, but only frigs and the carrier on Mission 2.
