Note: This ship was converted from the Vaygr destroyer into a hybrid cruiser-carrier with the CFHodEd tool. It has working dock and launch paths for fighters and utility craft! Unfortunately it has little military utility and exists for fun. Been waiting for a cruiser-carrier conversion so long I did it myself. And it was easy!
Ship details:
Second Taiidani Empire Export Military Cruiser C3E
Variant 2 "Lone Ranger"
Background:
The C "Cataphract" class of large destroyers (or light cruisers) serves the Imperial Navy as a compact, highly maneuverable, interstellar-capable capital ship with the logistics requirements of a frigate. This ship is, albeit in highly modified form, also very common in the Taiidani-aligned portion of the Vaygr Federation, due to the Empire's influence upon the Vaygr technological base in the Crusading Era.
Indeed, together with the I-series heavy fighters and the Spahi assault frigate, the C-series destroyer represents an enduring monument of Vaygr-Taiidani cooperation during Lord Makaan's rule.
The ship's basic design is admittedly, antiquated, the first prototypes being laid down during the Hiigaran Republic's early years as a replacement for the Gladius class assault and missile ships (Hiigaran Navy codename Skaal-Fa/Tel). Significantly longer than the ships they are meant to replace, the C-series ships radically depart from traditional shipbuilding practices for their fully modular design based around a common central hull with three chassis connectors: one for the propulsion unit and the rest for a pair of "mission hulls" fitted as per the ship's intended mission.
The flexibility of the "Core System", combined with extremely high levels of automation, has made the C-series the mainstay of interstellar patrol and fast attack forces in the Galactic Far Eastern region. This ship is less successful as a fleet cruiser, being hindered by small size (Invasion Era fleet cruisers were almost twice its mass) and chassis limitations.
Yet during the Great Crusade where C-series ships in Vaygr hands were given adequate operational initiatives as semi-independent scouting and fast attack units, their combination of extreme acceleration, advanced sensors, capital ship firepower, and minute crewing requirements proved to be unbeatable in the right hands. The present-day C3M "Rogue Fencer" units capitalize upon their ships' fleet footedness by arming them to the gills with hypervelocity missiles and magnetically steered "turretless" particle beam weapons. Rogue Fencer task units frequently deploy with organic fast carrier support in the form of modified C3Ms. The Vaygr have sought the opposite balance with their export-configuration hulls, frequently attaching outriggers to the mission hulls to boost firepower to battlecruiser levels or even beyond, suffering little impediment to acceleration for additional modular drive systems are the norm; a handful of C3s were even deployed with strategic "planet-killer" fusion beam weapons powered by dedicated reactors in the mission pods.
The Lone Ranger:
Designated C3M2, this offspring of the modern Rogue Fencer class (C3M) fast attack cruiser was born out of the Imperial Navy's difficulties in supporting a regular interstellar military, having to make do with a handful of ship types to fulfill its many responsibilites. New ship designs are many, but few make it past the drawing boards for the Empire's economic difficulties, this made no easier for the Hiigaran Corporations' expansion into Independent Vaygr space thereby depriving the Empire of its foreign trading partners.
Lacking a suitable light carrier for deep space operations, Imperial engineers converted a C3M into one by adding two hangar bays to the standard utility mission pod, each capable of supporting up to eight light fighters internally or twice that number on external berths for limited duration deployments. The C3M2's hangars are not large enough for NaVy corvettes but a single utility tug may be fitted into each bay. These are used for resource gathering operations, providing a Rogue Fencer/Lone Ranger team complete freedom from naval logistics trains thanks to the C3M2's molecular manufacturing arrays aft of the fighter hangars.
Although the Lone Rangers do carry most of the C3M's heavy missile and particle beam weapons, their combat capability is regarded as an emergency reserve; these ships are far too valuable to commit into direct action, for good reason - the M2's port mission pod is unarmed thereby eliminating its entire left side point defense.
Vaygr Potential:
The C3M2 remains an experimental ship type of the Imperial Navy, but strategic planners have expressed an interest in a limited-export program, selling export-grade Lone Rangers (designated C3E2) to selected Vaygr clans along with a upgrade packages for their existing C3Es. The C3E2 would be able to perform the supporting roles associated with the long-obsolete Vaygr Kaghan class cruiser-carriers, without dragging down the C3E attack cruisers' mobility and low observability. Thus unleashed on the Hiigaran Corporations' supply trains, the Lone Ranger might be the Second Empire's trump card yet.

As you can tell, it is a PDS universe ship (yes, in that verse the Vaygr military is/was based on acquired Taiidani technology - evidence: the assault frig similarities between HW1 and 2). So I need to balance it in stock HW2 before I can release it outside of PDS.
Unless you want to see a boat that flies at 600m/s semi Newtonianly eating ships left and right with her Star Trek like turretless beam weapons.
