View Full Version : in-game vids
i am noticing something odd with the in-game vids that are rendered in the game engine. they seem to have a slight and rather subtle skip to them, almost as if it isnt refreshing fast enough. for instance; in the second video, when the transport ship moves accross the screen it seems to be slightly choppy. however, i am not running into this while playing the game itself. i am running the game at well over 80 fps on average with every option enabled and turned up to the maximum. i also have the latest directx and catalyst drivers for my radeon 9800 pro. i am curious if anyone else is running into this issue?

This one's got me baffled, several have reported that the opening NIS for M02 shows skipping/slowdown, but in testing it definately did not. Also, it's not skipping for me and I've only got a medium-high end system.

I get the same - the BW cinematics studder slightly and the ingame cinematics really got low FPS. The same bug occured in the original Homeworld!!!
The game itself runs at high FPS even with a lot of ships on screen but the ingame cinematics got a low FPS.
My Specs are
P4 2.6 GHZ
2gig RAM
Asus Geforce Fx 5900
Audigy 2

I border line all the reqs exept the video card, and the in-games look fine, when my rig is ~1/4 the power of yours, if it happened in HW as well, it has to be something with your setup (could be BIOS) what's your OS?

Hmmmm interesting...
Can you guys try with -nosound as a command line switch... see if the video skips then?

as far as I can tell, certain parts of the original HW cinematics were stuttering/skipping because of the encoding itself. HW2 appears to be using divx for cinematics. Either way, I don't think your game's 3d performance is of much of an indication of your 2d performance.

I'm also getting some slowdown, particularly in the first movie right after the core is shown in-engine. it slowed considerably, but in game in ran like a .... smoothly-running-thing.

Let me now only take about INGAME cinematics:
Homeworld 2 and Homeworld ingame cinematics have a lower framerate than in the actual game. Im not talking about any videos!!!
Homeworld and Homeworld 2 were tested by me on the above mentioned spec

Hump:
Try the -nosound switch please, I want to see if it's something to do with the Audigy Drivers (something I've noted in another thread as well).
