Hack detection or bug ?

While playing tonight there was one game that nobody could join... we all got "different version" errors, specifically in the resource module, whatever that is (.big file?).
Several of us inquired of the game host about it, and got a "hehe" in reply.

Judging by the 'hehe', I'd say it's hack protection.
