View Full Version : Major graphics glitch

During some games, I find that some ship models (most noticably big ships, like the mothership, carriers, and frigates) will be missing some textures.

This is much easier to see than have explained, but as I have no web hosting, I'm going to describe it...

Imagine that some large panel that's part of the mothership's model is just completely missing. You can see the inside of the model - as if the mothership was a hollow shell.

Now imagine this with several panels from all the models. Sometimes it's just one or two missing panels, sometimes there are so many missing panels that I can't even see the ship at all. (This happened with the Vagyr carrier in the 2nd single player mission.)

This usually only happens at certain levels of zoom (random each game in which it happens). Maybe the panels are missing at max zoom out, maybe at max zoom in, sometimes inbetween.

Windows XP Home, Athalon XP 2600+, Radeon 9700 Pro, Catalyst 3.7, directX 9.0b. I also frequently suffer from the black screen of doom on game start, as described in other threads.

I can take screenshots if anybody wants to see what I'm talking about...just keep in mind I have no webspace, so I'd have to use some other transport medium (email, icq, etc).

I've got nothing that jumps out at me in my hw2.log...I'll post it at the bottom anyway...

Try going into your graphics card options and resetting everything to the defaults.

OK, so I tried resetting to defaults.

I think it's a bit better now - I've still seen random missing panels on my mothership, but it's pretty rare.

This isn't too far off from what I was using before - I just cranked the AA/AF up a notch each. So why does the antialiasing hose the display? Problem with ATI's drivers, or an interaction with hw2's display code? Both? :)

Gotta have my smooth antialiased hw2...so pretty...

Another problem may be the version of ATI's drivers Homeworld2 becomes sick if u use 3.7 and above so use 3.6 and it works perfectly i had a similar problem like when my mothership came out of hyperspace it looked like hyperspace vomitted it out (as well as my carrier) so ya..... my suggestion is just to change your drivers to 3.6
