Battle for Macragge is even better (with paints)

... and so is the Battle for Skull Pass! Now for an easy 10 bucks more you get 12 Citadel Paints! So now $60 gets you paints, models, scenery, the rulebook, AND an easy how to start guide. Holy crap I sound like an infomercial but seriously, it would totally be a great time to start warhammering.
All a beginner would need is clippers, hobby knife, brushes, primer, and glue (some friends would be help as well)!

Obviously the annoying thing is that I picked up battle for skull path like two weeks ago.

Mullet boy is right, it comes with a paintbrush, and lord aba is right, this box kicks ass.

I noticed they added paints, at least it explains the price hike on the box. I'm wondering if they are regular size pots or just "samples".

just samples, like the ones in the old starter set that came with a couple of marines or orks.

I bought a starter set for my nephew's birthday last week and it had a newer style of "pots on a chain" than what I've seen previously - this was the newer 40K starter set that comes with Macragge marines on a single sprue as opposed to the old 40K starter set (that I bought for myself a year or two ago) that came with the "statue Marines" and the nylon bristle brush. Anyhow, the "new" starter paints about half the volume of regular GW paint pots if I had to guesstimate - much better than the old pots that were about 1/4 the volume of regular GW paint pots and had crappier lids and flimsier plastic

In other words... if I were buying the Macragge set again and it came with the size of paint pots and the natural hair brush included with the current 40K 3-Macragge-Marine starter set, I would definitely feel like I was getting a good value. (Esp. w/ the templates, dice, plastic rulers, etc.!)

That's why theirs Micheals. I wouldn;t like to see a starter set hiked up $38 because it came with clippers a knife and glue.

I'm not so psyched, because I wouldn't get it anyway, but is it true the new paint sets/paint starter sets come with a set of foundation colours, that aren't available by themselves? Somebody showed me the silver form it, and it appeared to be a shade darker then boltgun.

Judging by the colors in the Online Store ad and my experience with the painting guides included with the current Macragge set, they wouldn't be Foundation colors:

Being a pessimist, I don't think it would make good financial sense if they included Foundation colors in the starter boxed set since they'd want you to have difficult coverage with the yellow and red... that way you go out and buy more paints! *muahahaha*

That and the paints in the ad aren't advertised as Foundation colors and if they were releasing Foundation metallics, don't you think there'd have been a pre-order release and gossip on the 'Net by now?

apart from all that, it still is good value for money, especially for newcomers to the game. it got me hooked. and if you dont like the paints then just grin and bear it, because personnaly i think its a great start point into the world of 40k
