was hoping that this would be fixed in OF, being able to play with 2 copies of coh on different computers online, but still cant.. is this a known issue and any idea if it will get fixed? :stick:

I can do that just fine with vanilla CoH.

really? whenever me and my bro played 2v2 or anything together we would get a lot of lag and stuff, and i read somewhere that because coh uses the same port the data conflicts and makes bad lag

i think its more of an issue with your connection speed then anything else... online games can be relatively bandwidth-expensive, and its twice the same information one one line for two computers behind the same router.

I play regular COH with my roomate on same router and weve never had lag problems.

It's actually working for you guys?
OF beta via RO with 2 people behind the same router?
Have you forwarded any ports on your router or have made any specific adjustments?

Greetings

Works fine for my and my housemate behind the same router, vCOH and OF beta. No adjustments or port forwarding required.

All Relic needs to do is make the option available to shoose which port the game uses, so that 2 people behind the same router can select different ports to forward to.

As it is now, it is a crap shoot. If the UPnP works with your router and RO, then you will be ok. If not, then you will have a lot of people that you cannot connect to simultaneously.

I don't think its connection speed at all, we are both playing games all day online, and have up to 5 people using internet at the same time with no slowdowns.. we can both play fine by ourselves its only when we are both signed into relic online and try to play games simultaneously. :bored:

i would like to know if anyone has come up with a solution to this as my friend gets absolutely pissed and hates coh. i hope this doesnt make him leave coh for another game...

As far as my understanding of networking goes, and other users on these forums seem to confirm this, it's entirely up to relic to fix their code.

Other games have done it before---with or without port forwarding. Basically, if relic gets their netcode to the same level as it was in vCoH, AND let's users choose their port for inbound connections, which shouldn't be hard to do, it should work no problem.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Good God, I can't imagine relic pulling off their September release date. If this is remotely what retail is gonna look like... oh boy...
