i know tht this may be a stupid and/or newb question but how do you take screenshots? currently im just using fraps :(

Press "Printscreen" up above your "Home" key. Also if you want to get rid of the UI and the taskbar and everything, hit Ctrl + Shift + ~ and type in "Taskbar_hide" to get rid of all that. Type in "Taskbar_show" to show it again.

The screenshots go in your My Documents/My Games/Company of Heroes/screenshots folder as well.

yea i thought it would be the same as 40k but wen i hit printscreen it literilly prints screen and i made sure by pasting in paint. i wouldnt mind doing tht everytime but it gets pixelized :puppy:

it just prints screen doesnt modifier your screen so what do u mean by pixelized ?

the thing is, it doesnt take a screen shot. it copies the current screen. so wen i try to paste it into paint it gets pixelized as in its paints fault

opo: You shouldnt need to copy it into Paint. There should be a perfectly fine screenshot in the CoH folder. But if your display gets screwed up by it, there's probably some weird bug with your graphics drivers. That's my guess anyway.

Unless, of course, you mean you want a screenshot excluding the GUI? There's some shortcut for hiding the GUI for a moment, dunno what it is tho.

For anyone who doesn't know, when pressing the "Print Screen" button, no matter what, your system takes a picture of whatever is on the screen. It just so happens that when playing CoH, hitting print screen ALSO saves a screenshot in your CoH screenshot folder. So copying and pasting the screenshot into paint when you hit prt screen will always work no matter what you have running as far as I know. :P


Did you take my advice and look in your CoH default screenshots folder? FYI, there are two, one in your Program Files/ Company of Heroes and one in your My Games/Company of Heroes. You want the screenshot folder in your My Games/Company of Heroes.

The Screenshot folder in the Program Files/Company of Heroes is used for something totally different.


EDIT: Did anyone even read my first post? @ Synthmon - the taskbar_hide takes away the UI if you open the console....

still no luck :( i checked the screenshot folder which is how i figured my printscreen button didnt work. my first thought was tht it was a different button which is why i even started this thread.

Good guess, atleast for me updating the driver fixed it, before i had exactly this bug (?) when no screenshot was in that folder.

Stokes: Shit, sorry. Missed that completely. But isn't there any smoother way? If I need a spur-of-the-moment screenshot in the middle of a game, I need to fiddle about with the console? Or rather, save the replay and go through it later I guess.

There is a mod you can download which will get rid of the UI with the click of a button, but you cannot play Online with it. I think its called the "Screenshot mod". Look around in the Armoury, its in there somewhere. I'll post a link later.
