Does anyone know how to earn the medal for this mission? it says "Destroy generators and fuel tanks" but I can't seem to find them.

The generator and fuel tank can be destroyed by landing gliders in the designated area's.
Also note that it's possible to build the Radio Triangulation Detectors. Build one at the bottem of the map, and near the generator and fuel tank, BEFORE blowing them up. Otherwise the script will take command of your units.
This detection array will carry over to the next map.
Which comes in handy to see the next wave coming, and identifying the Hummel artillery.

As Dark Axel said, just drop 1 squad of commandoes at each of the designated areas. Grab a LMG42 and a Panzershreck with that squad. Don't bother fighting. Just run up to the bomb site, pop smoke, plant charges, and retreat.
Blow it to destroy the objective, and obtain another commando squad with AT capabilities. Damned useful for the next mission, which has you defending. 17 Pounders can be destroyed by artillery, Commandoes with shrecks in slit trenches rape everything else and are almost invulnerable.
I cannot get the medal for this map for the life of me. Whatever I am doing, it is not activating the event script that turns on the medal. I can totally raze the entire map, blow up all buildings and structures and get no medal whatsoever. Is there a specific sequence of events that I must do to activate the medal event or what? I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have played this map a dozen times already.

Normal level.
Make sure get at least one mortar, use mortar to bomb around 88mm guns, kill the crew but do not destroy these three guns, they are big help to defense the line in next mission. Also be careful on enemy MG and AT, try to kill the crews but not destroy the weapons.
BEFORE taking all the four points for defense lines, send glider in to destroy fuel tank and generator to get the medal. For the right objective(oil tank??), after destroyed the object, move the team to the building with flat roof on right side. This team will lost control and become the medal objective in next mission.
For the left object, after it is destroyed, move the team north, there is no enemy, you can do what you want, like to destroy empty bunkers/parked airplanes, build detector for radio triangulation(one at top, two at right and left ends of the defense line. Note, Only one system with three detectors can be built in this mission. It is not a option in next mission.)… You can also drop a tank to make more damage to buildings and enemy units. The empty Pantherturm at NE side of the central bunker can be occupied to make damage to near-by enemy. It can be occupied in next mission too, so no need to destroy it.
When all are finished, capture the 20mm AA gun near the hangar gate. I guess this is a bug, because at the beginning of next mission, all units will be moved to the defense line, but crew for this AA will stay, it will destroy enemy units and airplanes in next mission.
BEFORE taking all the four points for defense lines, also build up defense like to build trench, heal units, move HQ truck forward close to the line….
If you want to build as many units as possible, make sure 88mm guns are not occupied. I am not sure if this is a bug, I did a test, before an 88mm gun is occupied, the population is 55, after the 88mm gun is occupied by a three member crew, the population become 63, it takes an extra 8 population.
If replay this mission again, my steps will be:
1. take left HQ(no need to waste time/munitions to destroy it, it can be neutralized by the way to occupied a point), set a detector for radio triangulation.
2. get tanks and move all units along South-Eastern board to eastern corner to take the strategy point, fuel point(one mortar here), and HQ. Set the second detector at eastern corner.
3. send in gliders to win the medal, set the third detector at northern corner.
4. Due to the radio triangulation, enemy positions are known, clear them one by one.
Hope this is helpful.

Godo: the fuel tanks are next to a big pit, halfway between the control tower for the runway and the location where your infantry command truck parks. There will be a marker between the pit and the edge of the map showing you where to drop a glider to get commandos there. Demolition charges are the easiest way to blow the fuel tanks up.
The generator is near the top left corner of the map, behind the hangers. There will be another marker nearby showing you where to drop another glider. The generator is inside a walled yard and you don't have to use a demo charge, just keep grenading the same piece of equipment inside the yard. Eventually you'll set off a chain reaction that will blow everything in the yard. You don't even have to go into the yard, just get close to the wall around the yard and toss grenades over the wall.
You will only get one squad of commandos from each glider before the gliders are destroyed.
You need to do these before you've captured all the defended bunkers outside the airfield.

Ok I'm still a little confused here! I landed my commandos behind the hangers to blow up the generators and the fuel tanks mid way between the airfield and NO medal, what the heck am I doing wrong here? This was the first thing I did in this mission,
I guess the simple question here is how do I get the scriped clue of how to recieve the medal?

Hi
Been a while since I played this mission so it was fun going back to look at your problem. You may have sorted it out by now, but here goes.
I am guessing from your post that you do this before doing other things. If so this is the problem.
Mission goes like this.
Two squads of commandos land in woods. Take out gun emplacment (genade) and then take out base across road (retreat and regroup if need too but I just use these 2 squads, picking up weapons as I go). Set charges and demolish. Once done Tank glider will be available land on marker and produce 2 tanks and upgrade. Take one to gate on bottom right with one of squads ready to storm complex. Other tank moves to take point on left of road (be careful not to go to far onto the slope as the 88s will range on you, they are for the next mission!). You will get lots of resistence here but not impossible (secure point and dig in).
I land another glider on the road at the back of the complex near the last hut. Commandos will deal with MG and rush tank from gate to take out armour. Use armour as cover and clear complex, pick up mortar. Start clearing main objective and take town. Reinforcements turn up so take objective. Now the Canadians turn up. Set up and use mortar to revove emplacements. About this time 2 blue circles will show up on your mini map. These are the glider locations for blowing up fuel and generators. Land here pick up weapons set charges (no point fighting just blow the things, you may find time to put triangulation device but has to be before you blow or your troops will be taken over by computer and just go into hiding until next mission). If you are not quick enough you wil lose the troops and not get medel.
Rest is just a case of setting up a front line (some trenchs help for next mission). Clear all emplacements, DONE>

Dr. Dave,
Set up and use mortar to revove emplacements, Reinforcements turn up so take objective. Now the Canadians turn up.
The reinforcements being the two light tanks given for taking point, when you say "set up and use mortar to revove emplacements", what emplacements were you referring to, the gun emplacements where I must capture to defend front lines? Thanks for getting me this far. :)
Also when you say, "Now the Canadians turn up", do you mean the two light tanks given for taking point or the two command trucks? If you mean the command trucks, then its already too late to get the medal by this point.

Hi
ok almost there.
Yes the first bit is when you get the two tanks.
The primary objective is the building across the road from the complex you have just cleared. There is an AA gun in the yard and an officr who does not like dying. I use the mortar to soften these up before rushing in with tanks to clear up. If the building (two-story i think) is still standing demo charge it with the commandos or level it with tanks (up to you). When you now take this final point in the yard two mobile units, an officer and a squad wll turn up (the Canadians!).
Now you can start setting up to take the main bunkered emplacements and set up a front line (but be careful of the 3 88's). It is a few minutes after the trucks arrive that the blue circles appear on your map to guide you where to land the gliders. There may be a script or speech but I have not heard or seen it. Get the gliders down and get job done quickly! As for making the front line that mortar is handy to take out crews of 88's and MG bunkers 1st bunker is in corner so can be reached with mortor from behind wall in yard you have just taken). Hope this helps

Hey, no problem.
Many of us here on this Forum have a lot to be thankful for the efforts of everybody who posts here. COH & COH OF are challenging games that can be played by everyone and everyone, yourself included, will develop their own style for how they play.
Some general advice would be:
• Try things (hell we all get it wrong sometime)
• Save often (if what you do does not work go back)
• Pause often (stop look around and set your troops working, see below)
• Queue orders (Hold shift and set your troops a set of tasks. e.g. capturing several points in a row and then digging in!)
• Look for missions where a bit of preparation in current mission will help you in the next
• Have fun!
Best of luck with the rest of the mission (you get the chance to rescue those commandos soon!)
