As one pathetic RTS player, I'd like to ask what the best strategy is for destroying the base in mission 4. The inhibitors are cake, but I can't get past the mass army that's creaming my fighters (and torp frigs) in the second half of the mission.

Corvettes (pulsars) tent to survive quiet some time against vagyr frigates. Also, I managed to capture the vagyr destroyer near the gate exits :) Micro your bomber squads so they don´t get shot down. And hope, I nearly lost all my fleet in that particular attack. But I had them all at the gate-exit and had to fly them back the hard way.

I went with mass torp frigs (right? Or am i imagining things? you had torps at 4, righT?) and bombers mostly. Target the assault frigs first as they'll take your bombers down fast.
