I've been attempting to create a research technology that would modify the Carrier to use Pulsar Weaponry. I spent a long time fiddling with this.

Additional "hgn_pulsarside2" weapons defined to the Carrier's weapons slots.
"hgn_MSHullDefense" guns are changed to "Normal Only" fire.
I copied & modified the Torpedo Frigate's research item to the Carrier, so researching that item would cause the carrier to use special attacks.

The "hgn_pulsarside2" weapon is set as "Special Attack".

No go. I also tried modifying the angles and such on "hgn_pulsarside2." "Hgn_Pulsarside2" is also set as a Gimble weapon, and I've been able to get them to fire when defined as the "normal" weapon.

I also tried "hgn_hyperdg", a copy of the "hgn_mshulldefense" gun, but set as "special" and with twice the refire rate.

I've tried lots of other stuff too.

As far as I can tell, the Carrier seems unable to use special attacks.

Anyone got any ideas?

*EDIT*
With the MShulldefense guns set as Normal Only, the carrier guns cease firing at all when the tech is researched, so it's swapping over to special mode properly.

thats easy.

make a research like torpedo fregat.

it change normal weapon use to speacial attack

make 2 weapons for the slot.

1 normal weapon
and 2 special attack weapon youre pulsars

I think I just said I did exactly that.

I got it working with the HyperDG, but not pulsars, still. Not on secondary.

it needs to have an attack ability....
