Story (if you have not seen the movie Sunshine, this boardwar will contain spoilers)
When Icarus II failed to return to Earth after its successful mission to re-ignite the sun, several deep-space probes were launched in the direction of its last known location, several million kilometres outside of Mercury orbit. When the probes reached mercury however, they discovered something mission control back on Earth did not expect. A distress beacon not for the Icarus II but the Icarus I was discovered. Two probes which were on a direct course to the sun managed to snap several photos of the vessel, even though they were low quality it was clear that the Icarus I had survived.
Four years after this discovery, construction of a rescue vessel was completed, one capable of reaching the Icarus I and searching the deep inner-rim for the Icarus II. This vessel was christened the Prometheus. 6 months after completion the Prometheus left Earth orbit for Venus, where a small relay outpost had been established to communicate with the earlier probes. The mission was simple; make best speed to the Icarus I, ascertain the fate of its crew then begin the search for the Icarus II.
Info
You will play as a member of the crew on its way to the Icarus I. There are certain roles which must be filled but this boardwar will not have ANY weapons except those in the control of the Captain and the First Mate. This mission is meant to be a search and rescue mission so use your heads and think of purposes for your crew members. Some roles which can be filled are:
Engineer(s): Responsible for the technical aspects of the mission, the upkeep of the vessel and possible assistance in rescue operations as well as salvage operations.
Rescue Expert(s): As the name says, your main purpose is to organise, supervise and carry out any and all rescue missions.
Health Supervisor: Your purpose aboard the vessel will be to watch over the mental and physical health of the crew and any survivors picked up. You will also be responsible for aspects of the mission such as life support, diet (which includes the ‘food garden’ on the vessel).
Pilot(s): As the name suggests, you will pilot the vessel.
Comms Officer: Responsible for the communication back to Earth, signals analysis and other aspects to do with communication, including communication with possible survivors.
First Mate: Second in command, has something to do with almost every aspect of the vessel and the mission.
Captain: Same as above, but more important. Has final say.
