Cathalos City – Superhero Boardwar
It is the not-too-distant future. Mankind struggles against the soaring crime rates as the police sit idly by, cashing in their extra pay cheque at the end of the month. In these troublesome times it seems that hope is lost and that the streets will forever be dominated by the scum and villains that roam the city. Decent, law-abiding citizens take refuge in their homes, afraid of being challenged by a gang of vagabonds. It is in these times that good people need a symbol of hope, a symbol of charity and goodwill. It is in these times that the people need…
A superhero.
The boardwar takes place in the city of Cathalos, a large and imposing city with a skyline spiked with towering buildings surrounded by a maze of smaller businesses and suburbs. The weather ranges from overcast and grey, normally with rain to infrequent sunny days where the sky is clear and a pleasant atmosphere reigns supreme.
This boardwar is a character-driven superhero story in a more ‘traditional’ sense. The player’s characters comprise of men and women with unprecedented physical prowess and dedicated to acts of derring-do in interest of public safety and well-being. Some may prefer more villainous characters that enjoy nothing more than using their abilities to inflict pain and suffering on innocent people, or those they deem a threat. Wearing colourful or foreboding costumes these superhumans keep their identities a secret of utmost importance, blending in with the everyday populace when not fighting, or being the source of crime.
Characters must be balanced and not Godly powerful, with some weaknesses else an asteroid they cannot avoid will annihilate them in their sleep, strangely causing no harm to the surrounding area.
Characters can be created under several ‘types’. Superhumans are those who battle it out using their extraordinary abilities, such as superhuman strength, the ability to fly etc.
Humans(Skill) are ordinary humans who have mastered skills such as martial arts, or have spent years perfecting their knowledge on chemistry.
Others, like Humans(Tech) get through life with special weapons or technology, such as high-powered, but primitive lasers, or rings that enable cloaking.
Superheroes with a sidekick are allowed, as long as both combined are not overly powerful (i.e. the sidekick is usually weaker than the main hero).
Superheroes whose powers are down to extraordinary ability sometimes carry other equipment with them, to supplement their natural abilities. These sorts of items are allowed, as long as they are not too powerful.

Starting Locations:
Player characters start in their homes, be it apartments or semi-detached houses in the suburbs. No ones character will start with an uber secret lair with their own butler and fleet of vehicles unless they first PM me with their character sheet and have a good reason. Don’t expect a yes, though. Secret lairs are like respect: You have to earn them. (Or steal the money from a bank if you’re that way inclined.)
Other Locations:
There are many towering skyscrapers in Cathalos city but the biggest is home to Victor Kalahn, a wealthy businessman who has the courts in one pocket and organized crime in the other.
[More will come when I can think of some :D]
Boardwar Rules:
#1. I am the GM. If there are any disputes, my decision is final.
#2. No power- or metagaming.
#3. No flaming. If you have a dispute that cannot be resolved by both parties I shall step in and make a final decision.
#4. This is a semi-futuristic/fantasy boardwar. Superpowers are limited only by your imagination, however technology is capped; Lasers exist but in a primitive and none-portable state (i.e. the sort of laser found in Goldfinger.)
Secret lairs are plausible with all the rotating doors and secret entrances etc.
Firearms are still fairly similar.
Cars still have four wheels etc.
#5. I’d like for people to be as original as possible with their superheroes; carbon copies of existing superhumans will either be annihilated, or asked to change.
Also, I’d appreciate it if people could stray away from generic anime characters that we seem to have in abundance round here – Trench coats, dual pistols, katana’s and big hair are out in this boardwar. Though I have nothing with them being used singly, i.e. someone who has practiced kendo all his life and wields a katana is fine. As soon as he pulls out dual Deagles or whatever, Mr. Asteroid is paying a visit.
Name: Zeronemus
Age: 38
Sex: Male
Alignment: Male
Type: Superhuman
Characteristics:
Description: http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/2996/antagonistks6.jpg
Main power
Psychokinesis. Zeronemus is able to maniulate objects, both organic and inanimate with his mind. His power ranges from picking things up and moving them, to crushing or tearing them apart.
Secondary power
Teleportation. Zeronemus has developed the ability to move from one place to the other, without taking up space inbetween. Whilst he has mastered this power he cannot teleport more than a few miles at a time otherwise he will become mentally fatigued.
Equipment:
Bionic arm. Zeronemus lost his left arm from the elbow down in an accident several years ago. He personally developed a bionic replacement which houses many functions. It has controls for all of the facilities in his lair and several other added trinkets, such as a tracking bug for example.
Whilst it may seem to be quite egotistical of me, I've decided that my character will be the prime antagonist of this boardwar. Player characters aren't enforced to come after him, but he will be a main part of the story with evil plans being executed within the city that goody-two-shoes might want to stop from happening. Of course, I will need a second in-command: every evil overlord has one!
The IC thread (with the opening part of the story) will be created either at at the beginning-mid next week, or if we have enough players before then.
