I find this ability to be very annoying when placed on someones HQ. And it takes out Hetzers with one hit, too. So what do you guys think? Maybe make it un-targetable on HQ-sectors and nerf damage to vehicles, since isnt it supposed to be primarily an anti-infantry ability?

One hits Hetzers? Replay plz. Needs line of sight to place and then to have overwatch?

haha...one hits hetzers. Thats funny. It barely scratches armor. The hetzer had to have a sliver of health left.

How do i post a replay? Its a bit long, around 3 hours but have fun, its there. Or maybe i'll just fast-forward to that bit and up it to youtube eh

Overwatch needs LOS for it to work. If its over your HQ, then you must have had enemy troops closing in - or a US sniper spotting.

Overwatch is a bit unpredictable. For example, if there's a friendly emplacement in the shell's path, the shells will explode over the emplacement. Sometimes they explode some distance from the target even though you have LOS and there's an enemy directly underneath the marker.

If its set up correctly, like on the "bend" on Gilroy, it can annihilate infantry and do heavy damage to tanks. Taking out a Hetzer in one hit? I don't think I've seen a one hit kill on heavy armour, but it might be possible.

Should it be effective against armour? The shell is an air-burst type that rains down high velocity shrapnel. I believe it should be effective against armour to a degree. It should definitely take-out light armour and vehicles like the Marder with its open top. It should be effective (but to a lesser degree) against medium/heavy tanks since their weakest armour is usually on the top.

Wasent air-burst just shrapnel for a shotgun effect, essentially it should do no damage to vehicles as a trade off for infantry dominance.

I found this on Wiki:

"Air burst

An additional wrinkle can be added when some or all of the shells are set for airburst, meaning they explode in the air above the target instead of upon impact. .....

This is a very effective tactic against infantry and light vehicles, because it scatters the fragmentation of the shell over a larger area and prevents it from being blocked by terrain or entrenchments that do not include some form of robust overhead cover."

In CoH, even mortars do damage to heavy armour, so a 25lb projectile should have some effect.

Was wrong about the one-shot thing, just looked like it, but it DOES take them down to <5% which is arguably the same thing. Anyway, uploading the videos now. SgtWilson, yeah, they should shred infantry and light vehicles, however, tanks? Nonono. Thats just too much bang for the buck, uh, i mean for free.

Nah, its about balance - see other thread re: Axis Tanks OP. RCA is the only way to balance the late-game advantage Axis have with armour.

DAYUM that's some overwatch. I can see it gib infantry and light vehicles but a Hetzer like that seems a bit much.

The Hetzers weren't one shotted though. ;)

hmm.- they must have buffed it in patch . Used it quite a lot and it never even dented a hetzer in the last patch... Seems a bit OP in that vid but he must have had quite a few 25pdr's :b

That's either modded or something else was shooting the hetzies. I heard FF's? maybe

Painmuffin: nothing hit the hetzer before that. But FF hit it afterward. If you dont believe me, or those clips, why dont you lab it yourself a bit?

Holy shit those graphics......wow

Anyways ya its stoopid for basically big-ass grenade to kill a tank with as much armor as a king tiger.

haha love it, i love the way people adapt to knew situations.
Ive been finding it very hard to hold back axis armour rushes at the moment but those 2 vids have given me some food for thought.

Well, they went RSA - they sacrificed whatever else they would have gained for that ability instead. Maybe commandos would have hit the field at one point in time and changed the game dramatically before that moment in the game and in turn changed the outcome. Or maybe a Churchill would have hit the field and repelled a crucial attack that wasn't repelled before.

All I'm saying is, your opponent not only loses some manpower on the field by using an artillery piece, but they also lose other doctrine powers.

Uh, so? So its okay for something to be OP, because, hey, you cant use something else if you take it? Awesome reasoning man, really.

Go around it?

Don't tell me it was a stupid bridge map...
