UPDATE: the mod should now be FULLY fixed, all of the bugs have been ironed out (i hope) if you find any, however, let me know.

What i added\changed in V2
The paratroopers now have 3 enfields, 2 stens, and 1 bren gun
the ability is in the usual ability place as seen in the screenie
the ability has NO requirements.
the squad can reinforce just like allied airborne.
the british commandos are better shots with their enfields, and have better accuracy and slightly more damage (2 to be exact)

What i added\changed in V3
edited allied airborne so squads have 3 garands, 1 bar, 2 thompons, with 1 being the sergeant, and using the "thompson" cinematic model (the dude in the cutscene that said "weve gota take out those AA guns") ALL airborne troops are now better shots and have more health. (same with brit airborne

Any suggestions\ideas are welcome

Edit: Umm, I tried this but when i get through the "Movies" in the Start it just crashes me to Desktop... Any Help?

@Pallero| Add this to your command line in the shortcut: "-dev -modname commando_helmet" without quotes.

I don't get ir working, the only thing that changed is if you retreat your gliderborne commandos and you retrain your squad, they come via paradrop and also the voices of speaking units (if you click on them and all the other voices except the background voice) aren't working. Help me

When I download, I put the three files into my main CoH folder.
(C:/Programfiles/THQ/CompanyofHeroes)
Then I used the Commando.exe to launch the game. I can see that CoH is using something, because It doesn't show that I played the campain. Now when I play with the British, I start a game, and the voices don't work (they just don't say anything when you click on them), and I can't see any button to paradrop the commandos even if I use the commandos tech tree.

Yer i have the same problem nothing has changed apart from the Denisons are better and there are no voices which sucks, can someone help pls

If your going to make a V2 and idea whould be that you also change the weapons that the commandos carry so they have like 1 bren gun 2 stens and 3 enfields that would be alot more realistic also you could take away their insignia to make it more realistic, basicaly make a Para realism mod :)

it doesn't work, there is no "paradrop commando" at either of the three HQ trucks

there is no sound

and tanks don't fire

i cant seem to find whats wrong, it didnt go buggy when i tested it, ill take the file down for now until i can find a fix, thanks for the info on the bugs

UPDATE: ive found out what made the sound bug, somehow, when i edited the module file, it didnt save :moefixed: .im allmost done fixing it up, expect the files, with added features, back up in 2 days max or 1 hr min

Great little mod with a lot of potential for the UK. I downloaded it and played around with it... I found that if you make the following changes you could have a very nice and well rounded UK 1st Airborne:

1. paratrooper squad (4), 1 Sten and 3 Enfields.
2. Paratrooper HMG (3), 1 Vickers and 2 Enfields.
3. Paratrooper Mortar (3) 1 mortar and 2 Enfields.
4. Paratrooper Bren (4), 1 Sten, 1 Bren and 2 Enfields.
5. Paratrooper Flamer (2), 1 flamethrower, 1 Enfield.

Remove the Demolitions from all squads.
Add Sniper upgrade, bren Upgrade and Rifle Grenade Upgrade to paratrooper squad.
Add LT (in Paratrooper Skin) to unit roster
Add CPT (in Paratrooper Skin) to unit roster

Paratrooper 6pdr
(US 57mm ATG, which is actually a 6pdr build under license as the US ATG), (3 paratroopers), 1 Gun, 2 Enfields and ambush camo ability (as per Sappers/PIATs)

Paratrooper AT Squad (3), 1 PIAT, 2 Enfields. Ambush ability.

If you are interested in the idea feel free to use it, I didn't polish the concept, just cobbled it together to see if it would work - and worked well.

Awsome mod simply awsome, it also doesnt clash with the original glider commandos which is great so they are separate units, du think you could do a small mod for the US airborne so they cary a variety of weapons instead of just M1 carbines, that would be sweet.

Still Playing with the v2.0... DL the v3.0 and see whats new... fun mini-mod... with some real fun potential - I added the commandos to the whole commando tree, reorganized the whole squads into 3/4 man units with Sten (assualt), Enfields (standard with PIAT Upgrade), Bren (LMG), Mortars, Vickers and PIATs teams... I might even try to make the whole UK the 1st Airborne "Red Devils"

I also changed it so that a full section would drop - Sten (3), Enfield (4) and Bren (3) for a total of 10 men per drop.

Here is the code, feel free to pick it apart for ideas or whatever works... I really like your work - especially the skins!

I Tested your Mod 1SSPzGrenLehr, And it was good, but id stick whit a whole squad. Or Drop 2 Squads. Also if possible do it like that you have 2 Drops, Paradrop and Support Drop.
Paradrop: Drops 2 Normal Squads (Like this, Not at the Same location).
Support Drop: Drops a Mortar and a MG. Or Give them a Supply Drop whit a Vickers and a "2 mortar.

What we need is a full Brit Para mod which changes the commando army and its abilities.
the Glider abilities stay the same so then the left hand abilities are for gliderborn troops and the right hand for airborne troops.

So left hand you get Glider for 2 XP, which gives you the 1 glider squad, with mixed weapons and a piat upgrade but it costs the same manpower as the para troops but then when you build men from the glider it costs less.
The Tetrach glider is the same except it can deploy AT guns, artillary guns and jeeps aswell.
The HQ glider, can deploy heavy weapons (MG, and Mortar) and can also deploy Airborne Snipers (with radio bag from V COH), engineers, Leutenants and an Airborne Captain, the Airborne engineers can build mines, barbed wire, tank traps and medic posts, the piat squad is removed because all para squads now have piat upgrades.

On the right hand abilities menu we have para abilities.
instead of the radio we have a para suad ability that costs the same as the glider deploys the same squad but costs 1XP, second istead of decoy smoke we have bombing run and then keep the 30 punder barrage.

Another thing would be if someone could make a Horsa glider model to replace the US Wacco glider that would be much more realistic.

also make sure 1 man in every squad wears a beret instead of a helmet so theres a bit of diversity.

then add a few small things like the ability to build trences in all races.

that is my rough idea for a brit para mod which i think would be verry verry fun, i have no idea how to do it myself and it may take a bit of work but its just an idea im not pushing it on you here lol.

A full on paratrooper faction for the UK would be a nice addition (look for one in my full mod).

@PaLLeRo - I am not a fan of big "full" squads in the game, I have tired many mods where people boost units to full sections/squads and they don't really work for a number of reasons - hold capacity of buildings and transports, camo activation fails due to lack of cover big enough for all memebers, they are unable to really move without tripping off mines or other such radius effects because of the size of the unit and the formations don't really work well either.

A section/squad breaks into teams for special purposes and movement in a combat zone... so with 2 half squads for instance one part can cover while the other moves...

The commando teams work this way - a assault team (sten), rifles (enfields) and Bren support (bren). so the Bren can move to cover the stens, the rifles can also cover with longer ranged fire...the stens can secure the new point and the Bren and rifles can then move up and repeat the process for whatever objective - points, buildings, etc...

i was considering changing the british glider tree into an airborne tree like the americans, complete with typhoon aircraft, anyone want me to do this?

It could carry 13 troops and their equipment, or a quarter ton truck (Jeep), or a 75 mm howitzer, or a 1/4 ton trailer, loaded through the upward-hinged nose section" this could be interesting.

Maybe you could change the US anti-tank to a glider drop rather then the rather silly parachute...I always find that to be SO silly looking... this is WW2 not Vietname...lol... I mean how do you do that, put the gun in a C-47, open the side door and bank the plane hard over to roll it out the side...lol... silly...

The Typhoon replacement of the artillary would be good, and I think that the triagulation is rather silly... supply drop there would be good with a mortar and vickers perhaps (MP and Ammo being the choice suppies, fuel is rather pointless for the tree).

how could it make it so newcomers mod will work with cpt combats ai mod and not affect vanilla coh ?? and if possible make them replace the commandoes you get out of a glider ?

Can you make that the British Para's can only be dropped when you choose the "royal commandos" and upgraded that you can land commandos, because it gives the british so much advance, they can land commandos from the begin. :-\

1SSPzGrenLehr; actually it's not that far fatched, Between the US, British and Australian, all sorts of things were thrown out of planes during the war. Not only light AT guns, but the 105mm M2a2 (the paradroppable one) howiziters, 25pdrs, british 2pdr AT guns, mortars, ration and ammo supplies, and while the meduim and larger sized guns were dropped in containers broken into pieces, the smaller stuff would've dropped relatively intact.

No, because you need to add a rolevariation to the unit, which can only be applied when modding the game. So you can't use it in a multiplayer game.
