The British AT is excellent mid-late game. Emplaced 17lbr or Firely proves this. However, in the early-mid section, where a Puma or (God forbid) an AC is roaming the British have no counter. A decent Wehr/PE player can get one of those out before the British can build an adequate counter, and can eliminate the british player's builders before the counter is prepared.
PIATs are the only option, and currently they're worthless. They're hopelessly inaccurate, due to their parabolic trajectory, but they don't get the damage bonus invested in a top-armour impact which they ought to. I say that either make it more accurate, or give it enough damage to count when it does hit. Currently they're only any good against Marders, and only then if you get up to point blank range.
Preferably, a buff to their accuracy would be better than damage - they shouldn't be able to deal with Panthers or even P4s, but they should be able to chase light armour off efficiently. All a puma or scout car has to do at the moment is circle straff. Bren buttoning isn't a viable alternative, because it doesn't last long enough for the natural inaccuracy fo the PIATs to be overcome on a stationary target, and you need those brens to deal with his infantry support.
