Map Contest. The top community submitted maps will be added to the PlayTest! These maps will be part of the auto-match loop as well as random play. The winners will be announced at the end of the beta, by you!How is this going to work? I vaguely recall reading that there would be a 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 winner but I can't be sure of this. If that is the case it's going to be tough to decide on which ones to vote for because I like the majority of them, lol! Great work from the submitters.
Personally, I'd like to see Industrial Riverbed (2), Bad Zwischenahn (4), Fire & Ice (4), Trainz (6) and Villers Bocage (6) all get official status. It would be shame if the content is limited to one from each class.
My only real gripe with the custom maps is that only Fire & Ice has weather options. I think whoever created this map has great attention to detail as his is also the only one with a decent splash image for the loading screen. It is perhaps a little too bright (as others have commented) and could do with a little extra fuel but I think it's a great effort. It would be good if more mappers could include weather options.
There are still a lot of maps from the contest to be introduced. A bit early to be picking winners.

I disagree, I think as yet I've not played on a map good enough to gain official status. None of them are rubbish, yet in my opinion none of them come anywhere near the standard Relic's already set with existing maps.
I know i'm stating the obvious here, but they all seem very amateur.

They're not all amateur no. Industrial riverbed fits the bill in my opinion. Have you even played this map? Not only does it make for entertaining movement strategy due to smart positirioning of resource and strategic points, but the maps pathing and visuals are on par with much of relic's work. My sole criticism for this map, is the moving truck on the southern bank that occaisionally moves up and down. No doubt this is easily fixed.
Also i think road to montherme, think that was the name was'nt paying attention. That was quite good.
One problem if any with some of the custom maps is a fascination with airfields. Why use flares, they hover and look slightly silly :P

The main problem that comes from Custom maps is since they are made by fans, theres a higher chance it will be unbalanced for one side than it would if it was made by Relic. (Look at Mt Durmont)
Industrial Riverbed is pretty good. Needs more testing to make sure there isnt any imbalances in it at all, but I think its worthy of map rotation.
Fire and Ice is a bit too bright for automatch, but good nonetheless.

How about the fact that most of the community maps Wehrmacht can recover munitions from wrecks? i mean on all the 2v2 maps submitted wehr can gather an astronomical amount of munitions

I want to know why people seem to hate fan made maps. It should be remembered that Relic maps aren't perfect either. They are the one that made Vire, Lyon, Lowlands, the Scheldt, Hinterdam, and Sturzdorf, all of which have major problems. Furthermore, St. Mere-Dumont (as well as Wrecked Train and Langres) was made before Opposing fronts so it isn't the mapmakers fault if the new armies do not work well on that map.

Does anyone know how we can vote for a particular map?
I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of most of the new maps tbh. Road to Montherme(4) is head and shoulders above the rest imo, and probably worthy of being on the automatch list. From the rest I don't mind Industrial Riverbed(2), Ruins of Rohen(2), and Villers Bocage(6) would be good if about half of the buildings were removed. Fire and Ice(4) seems to just be about fighting over that middle compound, which doesn't have an interesting design imo. About the rest, the less said the better.

'Road to montherme' is my favourite so far, the two 1v1s are good, I wouldn't mind them in rotation.
'Railz', visually it's a bit weak and there are so many strat (not resource) points - just make the sectors bigger damnit! Don't like the name either :P.
'Bad zw.. something', also a bit weak visually, but decent gameplay/balance, nice and open plan with lots of strategy opportunities.
Fire and Ice, love the look, little bright? So what, that's fine too, but it just doesn't play very well. it's hard to navigate with all it's obstacles, twist, turns and multiple choke points, large chokes or no chokes please. It's also a bit big and it's really dry for fuel.
I haven't played Villers Bocage yet, next on my list.

(etc) and Villers Bocage (6)
This is an official map and doesn't need to win.
It'll be introduced regardless ;p
That's not to say it couldn't use some fixing to the Territory and Minimap.

i wouldn't rush to make decisions about maps so far.
Also the idea of the beta is to again test play, to aid in the balancing ect, im not sure if there is still a window of opportunity to make changes to submetted maps.
Personally i think road to montherne is a great looking map, but its a british RCA spam fest.....but alot of people like those kind of maps.
looking fwd to seeing what other maps are released:)

Good to know that there are more custom maps to come, though that is just going to make it even harder for my to pick, lol. Perhaps I've been starved of new official maps for too long which makes these custom maps seem better than they actually are but I think the overall standard is very high. Most of the issues people have addressed in this topic are relatively easy fixes.
I didn't realise Villers Bocage was an official map. It certainly does need some work on the mini-map and I think the random/fixed options are the wrong way round. It seems that you need to choose random to get fixed start positions, lol.
It was said during the contest that even the non winning maps would get in. The 'winning' designers would get the prize, though.
