View Full Version : Wargear combo's you want to see
3rd Jul 08, 12:09 PM
I was just playing DoW:DC and thinking about how much i wanted to attach a chappy/libby/captain to my assault marines when it hit me, i might be able to in the next DoW.
Then i decieded to make this thread,
So people what wargear combos are you hoping you can make?
I personally want to see dual lightning claws(like the ig commanders with a built in ranged weapon) and a jump pack, or maybe even termie armour for my captain.
And i would love to be able to choose what weapons my chappy and libby use.

Not that this would be put in until an expansion with Sisters of Battle, but.... Combi-Flamers and Brazier of Holy Fire.
Yes, I want a bolter, two flamers, and a close combat weapon, please.
Perhaps something more liberal than normal, like two one-handed CC weapons instead of the usual pistol-melee combo. I wonder if relic will make anything besides that ordinary setup, as they would need new animations for each, you dont swing lightning claws or claw + pistol like daemonhammer.

heh would they go all they way and make terminator armour?
3rd Jul 08, 2:07 PM
This is totally crazy but id love to see duel weilded plasma pistols on a scout.
3rd Jul 08, 4:48 PM
yep it's totally crazy to give so much firepower to a scout...
(at least we know scout are in, relic mentioned sniping in a Q&A)
I think I've read about artificier armor as wargear in a preview, so terminator armor should be in.
Jetpack on chappy would be awesome (or any commander), it should count as armor anyway. Though he would look 100 time better on a bike.
I want a ranged FC like this:
Also, what I want to see is not really wargear but Eldar's wraithlord with sword. I know that with the physic system, a WL with a sword could wreak havoc but he's supposed to be higher tier than most other walkers anyway.

Bikini power armour. Need I continue?
3rd Jul 08, 5:16 PM
I hope to god your talking about SoB with the power bikini's, if not im slightly worried
3rd Jul 08, 5:21 PM
im more interested in what orks can find as wargears... bigger axe? lasers?

anything really, louder the better.

To akuma, the FC is Marneus Calgar, chapter master of the Ultramarines, and hes weilding the fists of ultramar. They are twin-powerfists, with built in bolter in each, which count as a storm bolter. Granted, he looks like a uber crazy Commander, and in TT he is, is ranged power isnt really any more then what a Commander of sm can normally take. Also, as far as a ranged orientated commander, that would be total kudos, like a commander with a plasma gun >.<.
As far as combos, i would love to see movement upgrades like some of you are stating, such as bikes, jetpacks, and the like. Especially for chaos with daemonic steed, i would fall in love with chaos all over again for that. Also different options for what kind of commander you want, for sm you would have a balanced such as a commander, or a powerhouse like a chappy, or for powers going with the lib. Same would go with chaos like a sorc or lord, and with alot of success, maybe an upgrade to a prince from the lord.

oooooo i love the idea of having my SMC as a libby *drools*
imagine the possibilities, i would love to have a Commissar lead IG, or a real customised chaos lord instead of the ones we get at the moment
the possibilities are endless
Oooo and imagine how you could kit out your ork boss, no weird mega body for me no sir

I wouldn't mind if we had some RPG-like screen where we can "pimp" our heroes. Maybe it's because I've been reading stuff and watching videos about Diablo 3 too much, but it would be awesome if DoW2 had something like that for commander units.
However this presents several issues:
1)If Wargear is lost in combat, then
a)Commanders will either get a huge buff so they don't die so easily. Maybe the buff will be too much and Commanders will be elevated to Relic Unit category. Somewhat of a turn off.
b) Wargear will be a dime a dozen, you find it all over the place with only the coolest of gear being actually kind of rare (Terminator Armor for instance). I don't know what the community thinks of this "disposable" wargear idea.
2) If wargear is NOT lost in combat:
a) Wargear will be limited to being found in other ways ("hey, how did this crate show up here? Let's open it").
b) The RPG-like screen to customize your heroes is mostly for aesthetics (which I do not have a problem with)
Once again, a reminder, we have no Idea how DoW2 will actually work, so... this is all guessing.

It has already been stated that wargear will not be lost in combat. Wether or not they stick tot his, I don't know.

Autarch would have some of the best wargear combinations.
Teleporters, Wings, any number of weapons.
3rd Jul 08, 10:17 PM
Bolt gun / plasma gun combo, Cypher style.
Dual wield power claw for assault marines.

Hmm some good points there Versian, imagine if they do make commanders like relic units
*thinks about a SMC running rampage through heretics and xenos* that would be well fun, they should make a mini game like that

ugh...it would be awful if commanders became the heroes of wc3 and all the other units just became their little entourage.

As is Arkandas, I am looking forward to autarch equipment, even if it is aesthetic. Picking the look and feel of armour and weapons from a combo of aspects will be pretty cool.
If the euipment has an in game role, experimenting with gear builds for the autrach will be fun, as they can fill many roles depending on loadout.

Squad leaders get wargear too. So it wont be like wc3. Also wc3's heroes were wussies in general.
4th Jul 08, 11:20 AM
mega armour, Kustom shoota, Powerclaw, cyborg eye thingy, warbike
4th Jul 08, 12:02 PM
I want to see a variety of forcefield style wargears as I remember them from my TT days.
Some are more powerful/effective than others, and some have some interesting side effects.
I think it'd be another interesting aspect of trying to give your best guys the best stuff.
Should be character only though, ie: single unit, not squads.
4th Jul 08, 12:51 PM
If ther's forcefield wargears, Orks need to have the best. It's pretty explicitly stated that Orks have the best forcefields and tractor beams of all the races in W40K :P
4th Jul 08, 11:13 PM
cool, suits me, the more varieties the better!!!
