View Full Version : Wehrmacht Veterancy vs. "Sim City"

So since the expansion came out I have played Brits, Before I had played American. I like being the good guys. So 1v1 got boring and so I got a few friends together and have been playing 2v2 and 3v3.

Almost every single game the other side no matter the spec or faction spam "Sim City" which is annoying at the least and incorrect flatly. Likewise in most games the Wehrmacht build only the vet building at first and spam Pios which right after building the building can be made L1 Vet. Sometimes and more so if double Wehrmacht they will toss in Motorcycles.

BTW 1v1 fight Bren Carrier vs. Motorcycle should never ever end with the BC dead but it does. Only time they can be beat is once 50 Munitions is got and the BC can be upgraded to the heavy MG.

In many games if my side played aggressive we can get them down to just a few resource spots. Even so all they do is load up a Halftrack with L3 Vet Pios all with flamers [Again in one game all they had was 2 5Gas and 2 5Muni.] go in past the Vickers and BOFORS and jump out and lay waste to any and all emplacements. By this time they have made 1-3 AT guns which then come in and park at the call in which is almost always the goal. Camp the entry point and slowly kill us by rushing Command trucks and then mining entry and camping with vetted Pios and AT guns.

When the name calling starts it usually falls to "Sim City" and us saying Vet is BS, Their retort? "We have to cause your lame Sim City" Which is many ways is an admission that Vetted Pios are OP.

In no game ever as American or as Brit have we ever had a come back to a win from having just 10 gas and 10 Muni total and yet consistently and often the Axis can and it is usually due the Vet spam by the Wehrmacht.

Now there will be those on both sides pro and con for both view points but the Vet thing has to be fixed. Allowing vet right after making the building is OP and un-balancing.

My suggestion is simple:

Restrict the building of the Kampfkraft Center till the first phase upgrade.
Restrict each Level allowed to each Phase upgrade thereafter.

Start no Kampfkraft Center able to be built no vetting.
Skirmish Phase Kampfkraft Center Built L1 Vets allowed.
Assault Phase L2 Vets allowed.
Battle Phase L3 Vets Allowed.

No changes to cost ect.

This is the only major imbalance I can see. I would whine how Brits suck due to high cost of troops and while all others can spam troops or make a quick recovery we cannot. Our guys are just too expensive and not that great.

Beyond that - Rangers, Airborne, and all Commandos should be able to hold their own in a 1v1 fight against Knights Cross and any called in units or any units with L3 Vet.

If you want to talk balance, please see the Balance Section. If you want tips on how to beat the strat which you say is used against you, please visit the Strategy Section. This strat they use is highly counter-able, and in the Strategy Section there are many players who would be glad to pass some experience on to you. If you want to discuss the balance of Wehrmacht veterancy, there is both a forum on it in the main CoH section, and there might be room for one in CoH Balance Section if you try to phrase your thread so it doesn't entice flaming.
