This is a mod/tech based question. Feel free to lock it or what have you after I get my answer.

From the screenies I've noticed, as I'm sure most of you have that they look much better than DoW1 (har har, understatement.) I'm curious as to what maps are being used in DoW2

From my limited knowledge:
Spec Maps
Bump Maps (Or are then Normal Maps)
Diff Maps

But... can anyone tell me if Normal maps are being used, because if they are then the ability to pull a model into Zbrush and go crazy on the detail for the normals... its exciting. But thats only if Normals are in, and I'm assuming they are.

I don't see why they would remove normal mapping from the Essence Engine for Dawn of War II.

Well, I never played CoH so I dunno what was used in it.

This is the wonderful toy that's going to power Dawn of War II. I wish there was more detail.

I hate normal maps. They just get fucked up when you try to make them. And if any such maps, then it should be parallax mapping.

Well, normals whay back when were a pain in the ass, but now you have Zbrush and Mud Box that you can model the high poly and you can bake them onto the Low Poly via exporting the High Poly to Max/Maya, whatever. Though Parallax would be a welcome thing. Parallax is a Dx10 feature, isnt it?

I know and all those tool makes the normal maps turn out shiz for me. And I almost wish to kill the maker of zbrush.

Let's not argue about which tools/mapping types are superior/inferior, 'kay?

Yes, there are definitely normal maps showing on the screenshots from DoW2, so there you go.
