View Full Version : salvage then recovery question
Hi I got another question
Say in a team game where you have Wehrmacht and pe is it possible for say the Wehrmacht player to salvage a vehicle for a bit then have a pe player bring it back with the Berge Tiger?
An example of this would be say the pe players JP died could the Wehrmacht salvage a bit off it (making sure not to salvage it to death) then the pe player brings it back.
If this does work does it affect how long it takes the Berge Tiger to bring back the vehicle?
I think that all makes sense.

yes, it is possible for a Wehrmacht player to salvage a vehical which slowly damages it, then a PE player using a bergs tiger to Repair the wreckage, in turn creating an increased munitions income.
i am not sure if they two actions can happen concurrently as i believe the bergstiger recovery automatically cancels the pioneer salvage, and further more, it would be rather taxing for a PE player to do this as he nither rewarded for his efforts nor gets usage out of his rather expensive 10 pop cap Bergstiger.
the Bergstiger's recovery is dependent on the health of the vehical husk, much like how the pioneers salvage is, a bergs tiger can recover small vehicals like a bike, scout car, or half track in mear moments where as salvaging a Tiger, King tiger, or Jagdpanther could take up of a few minutes to recover.
So with that said pyro it is possible for say wher with a willing pe team mate to achieve an infinite amount of munitions. With the wher player salvaging then the pe fixes to almost full health (rinse and repeat). I am well aware that this will more then likely not happen in a game but who knows.

I'm dying to know if that's possible, i'll try it next time i get the chance but I think it's more of a liability than an advantage. You're better off putting an OP on a high munitions point but who knows.

I'm pretty sure the vehicle has a set amount of munitions Assigned to it so when salvaging once you max out that number the wreck explodes. Regardless of if the Bergetiger repairs it. Not positive on that but it's sitting in the back of mind for some reason

This... you'd be better off just putting an OP on a munitions point. it'd give you more munitions overall, require less micro, protect one of your flags, and would be much cheaper... assuming it even does work.

nope. salvage does damage to a wreckage as well as does a +5 munitions every few seconds while the ability is active.
higher healthed vehicals means the ability stays active longer, shorter health means the ability stays active shorter. this is how some players mark the amount of ammunition you get back on certain vehicals. the vehical stays alive long enough so that 105 munitions are collected from its salvage. however, you can get less than 105 munitions if you simply micro the unit. if you inturpt the salvage before the +5 munitions, it takes away that health but doesn't give you the munitions.
so
salvage damages...
blitz recover repairs...
It is a Fact that i can heal a wreckage with my Bergs then salvage it with pios getting More munitions out of the vehical than normally possible.
however the real question is, how much micro is needed to do as such. if pioneers salvage faster than the repair, or if the bergs repairs faster than the salvage, then is the munitions worth the amount of micro, if you have to inturpt your units so they don't destroy/recover the vehical in question.
and no... building an OP isn't quite as effective as salvaging...
building an OP on a +10 munitions only gives you +8 munitions Per minute.
salvage gives you +5 every 2-3 seconds. netting you a +100-150 munition a minute.

yeah but you never do it for a minute straight. You are better off repairing the Jagpanther with the berge tiger and having it on the field. Go baserape the opponent rather than try to get munits from it.
You right you probably would not do it to your JP I only used it as an example because every time my allies JP dies I get this voice in the back of my head saying salvage it go on. But if you do it with say one of your own tanks say a panther as terror all of a sudden you can get enough munitions every 2 or so min to call in a fire storm v1 etc or as blitz you can call in a tiger then salvage its wreck get enough munitions to use blits resources then call in another one all the time it will have no negative effect on your munitions income because you can keep salvaging the first tiger wreck then if you need it just fully bring it back.
