DoW + Xpacks

Should I but DoW1 and its subsequent expansion packs and then buy Dawn of War 2 when it comes out or wait till DoW2 comes out and not bother buying anything from DoW1?

I would certainly recommend buying DoW and its expansion packs.
They are all excellent games and can be picked up really cheap now, brilliant campaigns and fantastic online play.

I think the Poll option has been disabled now, if I remember correctly, to emphasise more discussion instead of "I chose this" type posts/threads.

Well you are certainly late, so it will feel like DoW's 'missing' something. But for a game from 2004 that's lasted this long, its still pretty good. I recommend you get it since its cheap (There should be a pack out there for all 4 games), and I recommend the same thing for Comany of Heroes (CoH: Gold Edition, also a nice cheap deal)

As an added bonus, people who have Soulstorm will eventually be able to get into a closed beta. Before you ask, no, there's been little to no information on this, so just keep your cd-key and game at the ready for this coming January/February.

DoW is seen as a multiplayer game, even by those playing it solo.
As at least the multiplayer game of Soulstorm is still broken, we can say Soulstorm has merely killed DoW.
I think the best would be to buy the whole pack, but you will maybe only play the 3 first solos campaigns.
Else you wait for a good SS patch at last (I hope too!), as the recent 2 were not sufficient.

You can think DoW2 will have the same way as DoW1: a good game spoiled...

I disagree with ERISS, since Soulstorm has received updates it now tops the Dawn Of War series. I find it difficult to go back to playing DC (as sometimes I do since some of my friends haven't forked out for SS yet). There are quite a few people still playing online in SS, I've seen the lobby fill up to 250 people at one time (compared with 90 in DC).

DoW + Xpacks is definitely a bargain considering what you get. It will keep you well occupied till the Spring when DoW II is due. And more updates are planned for Soulstorm.

Well...seeing as I already have CoH Gold :p

I do believe Ive seen some packs that contain DoW+WA+DC, but I have yet to see anything with all four :-\

Anyway Im pretty sure Ill end up buying everything since from what ive heard and read about the warhammer 40k universe, Ive become imensely fascinated with it, plus relic is a great game company :banana:
