So guys how do you get to work?

This cant be any worse than the "what sub should i get at lunch - 6 inch or 12 inch" thread!

Personnaly I do the following

Drive with girlfriend approx 10mins (1.5miles) at 7:25am, any later im caught in the morning rush hour and it takes much longer.

Then I catch the 7:45am train from Abber Holt to Llanishen in Cardiff which takes about 15 minutes.

When i get off the train it takes me approx 15 mins to walk to my office.

When i finish work the reverse is true

Please share your experiences with us
:p

5 min walk (approx 350m) to sub station, 15 mins ride to another sub line, then another ride like 7 min. Walk 15 min to the office. Takes like 45 min in total.

I can take a bus instead of second sub ride, will take 15 min to take me to the office but I prefer using just subway. In summer I walk all the way from first sub line to my office, takes a hour in total.

I walk to work through Downtown Vancouver. Takes me 10 minutes, unless traffic is bad, then it takes like 11. :)

hmm.

30min bus journey in Newcastle city centre, then a 15-20min Metro(train) journey, followed by a 10-15min walk to the wonderful place that is the workplace.
Same in reverse the way home :)

Slightly offtopic: today we had a film crew from the Discovery channel in the labs to look at some funky coatings technology.

Walk 5 minutes to miraculous Moscow metro. Enter metro. Depart metro 15 minutes later. Take 5-minute bus rest of the way to work out of laziness.

When I lived in San Diego it would take me an hour and a half each way on the bus. Brrr. Crappy college jobs, never shall I return to thee!

Walk ~20 m to a bus stop, 10 minutes on the bus to town, then wait 5 - 15 minutes for the next bus, ~1 h drive to the next town, and then walk another ~20m. And going back they are in the reverse order. Traveling times on one day are about 3h :)

Set off at 6.45am; any closer to 7.00am and you hit the deadzone (where nothing moves for at least an hour).

Usually take the car out for a spin to kill some time around the back roads of North Yorkshire (also serves to wake me up), dodging tractors etc, then come in from the other side of the traffic jams dodging them entirely.

At around 8.00am head down to the town centre and to my place of work.

If i'm running late (i.e. set off at 8am) then a direct commute take about 1hr20 to do 10miles; if i'm on schedule then an indirect commute takes about 30mins.

Walk to school. 5 km/1 hour northwest. Southeast to get back.

I really should take the bus, but meh. At least it's exercise.

Enter my car, drive 10 minutes to enter the close combat called Autobahn. 30-45 minutes, several almost crashes, swears, and mad Audi and BMW drivers later, I can leace the Autobahn after 6 km and reach my office.

I leave at 7:20 pm. I walk out the door, open the door to the garrage, and take a seat in my 328i. I shift it in to reverse, keep the revs low to allow the oil to heat as I back out the driveway, and then I get on the highway. I then drive 13 miles, at about 85-90mph down the highway to place of work.

Walk just over half a mile to the station. Drive if its raining. (Takes about 7 minutes on foot.)
Get the train into Liverpool (Takes 11 minutes)
Get off At Moorfields and walk almost a half mile into work, with half of that distance underground, stupid station. (Takes 5 minutes)
Get through security and then take the lift to the 4th floor, walking to the 5th (lifts dont go to the 5th :()

Yay

My commute is fairly good by London standards (in that I have to travel to The City) but it still takes a while compared to most people.

I have a 15 minute walk to my local train station (Whitton) followed by a 25 minute train ride to Waterloo and then two five minute tube (underground) rides (Waterloo->Bank->Liverpool Street) followed by a very brief walk. I have managed to do it in under 50 minutes but usually it takes just over an hour.

Off to Gym at 5:45am and drive about 5 miles. Then a quarter mile trip to my office @ 7am.

I just live far enough away not to walk. That or I can't be bothered to get up earlier. Ten minute drive and 4.3 miles later arrive at work. My drive takes me down a winding lane that is absolutely stunning this time of year.

40 minute walk to work, taking the quiet side streets so that I can hear my weekly load of podcasts properly without buses and vans interrupting me. Simple (except when it's rainy and windy - bleagh!).

Walk out my door, turn 90 degrees left and walk for about 150~ metres and hey presto I'm at work.

The joys of living on base -_-
